Originally a rock quarry, part of the tea garden came from a donation by George W. Brackenridge and another section from Emma Koehler. In 1915 Ray Lambert, city parks commissioner, thought it would make a nice location for a lily pond. Ultimately, it grew to become a tea garden. The latest renovations began in 2007 and cost about $1.6 million, compared with the $7,000 Lambert originally spent to open the park. It is a Registered Texas Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.

This is a very nice and relaxing garden to visit. Somewhat on the smaller side but lots of interesting parts and beautifully maintained grounds.

This is the place to go if you have had a stressful day and need to relax. The ponds are vast and hold several Koi. I loved the stone walkways and bridges. The palm trees are placed perfectly and the waterfall is gorgeous. I really loved all of the bamboo lining part of the walkway, it would offer good shade... More

I have been to Tea Gardens in many places. This is one of the prettiest. Lovely cafe to sit and enjoy a light snack or more. Highly recommend when the weather is good. Any season.

Due to the time of year we visited- February- nothing was in bloom and many trees were bare, yet the gardens are pretty and peaceful to visit. Glad we went.

What a delight. The gardens are full of a wide variety of plants, very well kept and cared for. I took a friend from out of state here who loves photography. What a great place to capture natures beauty. Stop by, enjoy the peaceful gardens. You'll be glad you did.
