A Highlight of my Trip.

I loved this Mission Tour even better than I expected. The missions are all easy to get to, and the directions are easy to follow.

The Missions are phenomenal! Very well maintained, clean, restored in some places. San Jose and Concepcion are the largest of them all; however, each one of them has its personal beauty. Some are still active, like San Juan and some are actual living convents. A must visit for sure!

I ran the Missions Heritage Half Marathon through 4 historic missions and on the river trail. The starting point of Mission Concepcion was beautiful and running through the other missions was breathtaking. Running was a great way to see these awesome historical buildings but I saw so many people on bikes exploring the area as well. The history in each... More

So much life, history and spirituality a part of this beautiful, quiet contemplative Spanish Mission. The adjoning Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes built of karst rock by seminarians and paved with famous bricks from Williams, Dhanis and Corsicana brick makers is a bonus.

We actually were not able to go into but one of them. You can walk around all but one as it has a wall. they shut down at 5 pm so go early. Also there is an aqueduct that was built to move water between two of the missions. Stop at the park and look at it. It is made... More

Took my Army unit on the 8 mile hike from Mission Espada to Mission Concepcion ... great cultural experience and excellent exercise in the sunshine. Can't beat the sanctity of the chapels at each of the missions ... great views of the river and we appreciated that some of trail sections go (briefly) through some semi-urban areas.

Fantastic off the beaten path places. A fun way to learn about the history around San Antonio! The missions are like little islands of serenity away from the crowds of the river walk.

I have gone on the mission trail several times and find it fascinating. Each mission is constructed differently. San Jose is the most complete, which gives you a good idea how all the missions looked 100 years ago.

We did the Missions by using the hop on and hop off bus tour. The Missions are very historic and really help to understand the story of San Antonio. They offer interpretive guided tours and I recommend taking advantage of this aspect of your visit. The guides are really knowledgable and enthusiastic making the history come alive. If you really... Grab the bike and head down the river trail. There is so much to see and take advantage of the nice weather before it gets too hot!
