This cathedral is one of the oldest cathedrals in US. It was originally built more than 250 years ago. It has undergone several restorations over time. One gets a very good feel inside this cathedral. One can view the tomb containing the remains of some...More

This is a beautiful light show, story. Using the front of the church as the canvas. It lasts about 20 minutes. Every age would enjoy it and there’s plenty of room. The show happens 3 times a night on tue, and the weekend nights.

This is a stunning old, historic church but the main reason I was interested in touring the church was it houses a tomb with the bones of the heroes of the Alamo - Davy Crockett, William Travis and James Bowie. Had it not been for...More

The light show is amazing! It's a wonderful video experience that depicts the history of Texas. It's free but get there early to get a seat in the plaza in front of the cathedral.

Wonderful old Catholic Church; well worth a visit when traveling to the Alamo. The church is an absolute feast for the eyes!

Sacred place, where some of the Texas independence war fallen soldiers lay. At the main plaza, next to the city hall.

We were on the hop on/off bus tour, and just happened to get off the bus as noon mass was starting. Stayed for mass, walked around the gift shop. Beautiful old church.

The light show on Sunday night was fantastic. All the people watching it were very respectful and the show was free. They do it 3 times a night, 9, 9:30 and 10 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Bring a chair if you don't want to...More

The outside facade shows its age. The inside is timeless. The glistening, golden altar where the crucifix hangs is the highlight of the cathedral. Although the stained glass windows are equally gorgeous. Even the stations of the cross are unlike any I have seen for...More

There wasn’t parking right at this plaza, but the nearest lot (at 205 W. Nueva Street, San Antonio) is pretty close (within 5 mins) and a pretty level easy walk.. You might get lucky and find some good nearby street... More

No, it’s free. Please be aware it is an active church site, so quiet, respect and sensitivity to the people who are there to pray is a must. We stood quietly in the back, then quietly took a peek at the ornate... More
