Short walk to American Camp from parking lot. Lots of fencing, 2 building left. Not that interesting. If you keep walking down towards water, come to Granny's cove, small protected beach with lots of driftwood logs. Pretty.

If you're on San Juan Island a visit to either American Camp or English Camp is a must. View the movie and walk the grounds. South Beach is a wonderful hike and a great place to find driftwood.

Hiking here was a totally different environment than most of the rest of the island--open grasslands and ocean bluffs. Lots of driftwood on the beaches.

Interesting history film in Visitor Center. Ranger added some information to put presentation in perspective. Quick visit. Be sure to visit English Camp to the north as they are related

We arrived here early in the day before the heat set in. It is a lovely, mostly level walk along trails with interpretive signs. There are some beautiful vistas.

Nice area for a stroll and a stop at the visitors center for a bit of history. The Brits definitely had it better at the English Camp!!

I was supprised the Welcome center was closed when we arrived around 11am. it would have been a better experience we we would have talked to a ranger. However, we made the best of it and walked the area.
