We are young enthusiastic birders. We visited this place in early February in the mid-morning. It was quite cold and we did not see many birds on the main trail (perhaps due to not arriving in the early morning or the time of year). We had more luck exploring the area near the river and the road leading up to... More

Well groomed and well marked hiking trails, peaceful and saw lots of birds. Also, staff provided helpful maps of area and also recommended Nature Conservancy down the road.

At least 100 years ago, Randall Davey, a young painter of independent means, selected this site at the entrance of the Santa Fe Canyon, where Canyon first turns to a dirt road and the winds into the mountains, for his residence. He had to buy a lumber mill in order to proceed, and upon his death turned it all over... More

We spent 5 days in Santa Fe and this was my favorite part. It was free to go here and we spent a few hours walking the trails. They were a little muddy but overall it was perfect. We never saw any other people and it was very quiet and serene. We only saw a handful of birds - robins... More

We hiked the loop starting from the right branch of the path. That part is not difficule but it is hot and sunny and might tire people not used to the weather in Santa Fe. At the top of the path you get a reward, a river and then a shady flowery downward path. We didn't see a single bird... More

Pleasant environment with lots of info on birding. Trailhead for nice year round nature walk and other hikes nearby. Fossils abound. Also nice venue for events.

The center is at the end of a slightly winding road but has good parking and is very well organized. The trails behind the center area steady but easy walk (the initial steps can be a little challenging) and offer outstanding views. When it snows, the center has some of the best back-country snow shoeing, just minutes out of town.

What an informative and lovely park. There was a husband/wife docent team as well that were extremely friendly and helpful and a real joy to visit with. The layout is great and the newer section is very well done. Located in a gorgeous section of Santa Fe I would rate this a do-not-miss.

This center is easy to find and not far from downtown Santa Fe -- just get on Canyon Road and follow it to the end. It is well worth the drive -- especially in October when the autumn color is at its finest. Be forewarned -- bring good walking shoes.
