This was a calm and peaceful adventure. It felt very safe. There were no whales and no danger of being knocked off the kayak. We were able to see Eagles and some picturesque scenery. One much appreciated surprise was at the end they gave us the best clam chowder we have EVER tasted.

We went on jet powered catamaran with our Captain Lee and the Naturalist was Libby. They helped us have an excursion that won't be forgotten. We got to see amazing things including bubble-net feeding. We saw approximately 15 whales during our time, not to mention sea lions resting on a buoy. Our guides definitely deserve kudos!!

We we’re booked for a 3-hour sea kayaking tour with this company and we’re looking forward to the trip. We arrived at the meeting place 15 minutes early and found no one connected to the trip. We finally asked a guy with a red shirt, and not a red cap as we were told, and he told us the trip was canceled due to mechanical issues with their transfer boat. He also said that someone was trying to contact everyone to tell them. We were not contacted, and I know they had multiple ways to contact me. Also, I tried calling their local number twice while we waited and texted once. Nothing. We did get a full refund, but with only the briefest of apology…. They definitely need to tighten up their business practices in Sitka. (We had a wonderful canoe trip with Alaska Travel Adventures in Juneau.)

Would not recommend this operation as a shore excursion. After finishing our kayaking we stood on their pontoon for 50 minutes waiting to be picked up by their inflatable boat. We stood there freezing cold and wet, with their poor staff on the pontoon not able to get any ETA from the inflatable boat driver Nick. When he finally arrived, there was attitude instead of any apology. He was dismissive and completely unapologetic to people on the tour who voiced their frustration upon being picked up.

Regardless of whether another tour group caused your boat to be late, you need to have clear business processes to ensure your staff (on the pontoon) know when you are enroute so they can keep customers informed, and consider re-prioritising passengers who are not late…! To be standing there in those conditions for that long without information is unacceptable.

I hate to think what impact your non-existent communication process would have should there be any type of medical or emergency on tour. Nick certainly wouldn’t be phased!

We did the canoe trip to the Mendenhall glacier and waterfall. We canoed past icebergs in the lake and paddled close the the glacier.
Don, our guide, was fantastic.
Passed along great facts and was pleasant and funny.

Our large group did the Lake Mendenhall Canoe Adventure. It was rainy and cold the whole time with lots of thick fog, but we still got a really nice view of the glacier. We rowed close up to the glacier chunks that had broken off and fallen into the lake. Captain Jack was an energetic and fun guide. Definitely seemed like a more engaged way to get to experience viewing the glacier vs taking a van to the Visitor's Center. And even if you have some weaker rowers, it's not too demanding a trip.

I should have noticed the first red flag when they were late to pick us up from the cruise dock. When we got out to the kayak station they tossed us into a kayak that was half filled with water with no explanation of what we were doing or how to even kayak. The guide took off and left us behind in the traffic jam of inexperienced kayakers. We then proceeded to struggle with our damaged kayak that could not travel straight. When I tried to ask for assistance. The guide made a snarky remark and paddled away. Overall the scenery was beautiful, did not see much wildlife. I wish I would have went on the other kayak adventure offered by our cruise.

Tim, Conner, and Rebecca were amazing hosts. Tim's knowledge and narrative while kayaking was remarkable. This is a must do adventure. Sitka is rated as the "best small town in Alaska". For sure! Great trip on 9/18/2019...Montana on steroids!
