Captain Patrick Davis, is a local Captain who knows the area and took us an fantasic trip. This excursion trip was not orginally a planned activity, luckly met him at the dock upon arrival but its reasonable cost and an opportunitstic opportunity of a TWO hour trip was nothing less than outstanding. His boat was very clean and comfortable both inside and out His flexibility to fulfill our wants was greatly appreciated.
Our Experience in this tour, his knowledge of the area was incredible, insightful as he headed out on our 2 hour tour. He not only found whales but we are talking more than a dozen, no matter where we turned there were more. We saw them from a distance, some close enough that we could see the gray whales in great detail. After this excitement, we went in search of sea lions and otters. While none were found this time, its not that he did not try or take the time to find them. He worked hard and gave us an experience we will not ever forget.
He offers multiple types of trips, but I am all of his offerings are great. Would easily do it again. Book this one early!!

We purposely didn’t book a whale watching excursion with the cruise line in hopes that we’d find a local guide when we got into town. Our prayers were answered when we met Patrick and his daughter Colette. After chatting about what type of boat we’d be going out on, and the small group size of no more than 6, we booked on the spot. Patrick was so accommodating, and got us to a pod of gray whales that seemed to put on a show just for us. We are so thankful for a memorable day thanks to Patrick.

Captain Patrick provided a great experience, where we were able to view multiple whales, but also the largest group of sea otters that we saw in Alaska, and sea lions sunning themselves on a buoy. When you book this tour, you are on a small boat. Our group had only 6 people. We could easily move around to get the very best viewing.

We had a great private wildlife tour at an affordable price. We saw sea lions, otters a seal. But the highlight of our trip was spending time in an isolated bay with a small pod of gray whales. Captain Patrick turned off the boat and the whales came right the boat. It was so awesome. One even rolled over and showed us his belly. What a spectacular day. The boat has an enclosed cabin to stay warm and dry and a fore and aft deck for viewing

Patrick is a local business owner. He first helped us find a large group of sea otters. They were amazing to see. He then took us to a spot where we saw about 10 grey whales. We had a great time! Plus, he dropped us at the cruise harbor to save us the bus trip.

We arrived in Sitka early on a Friday morning, received an email that our original trip had been cancelled due to the weather. We met Missy at the bus stops and she explained she had 4 seats left on a boat at 10:30. Paid our deposit and came back at the time. We were met by our captain Patrick who explained to us and another 2 couples that he was out earlier and it was quite rough but the trip would go ahead. Turned out to be a magical trip. Patrick was a gentleman with great knowledge of the area being a local and filled us in with all the local history. We first saw a huge sea lion before we left the Harbour and then he pulled up along side a trawler offloading it’s catch of salmon to another bigger trawler. We then headed for the location he thought the whales might be. To say it was rough was probably an understatement but he was persistent and got us right on the whales eventually. Probably seen about 8 or 10 and it was amazing to get so close. He even made time to see some sea otters on the way back. A wonderful captain. We would highly recommend a trip with Patrick.

We had nothing planned for this cruise day but happened to see Captain Patrick at the Visitor Centre in front of his sign. He was willing to take us out for a ride in his boat, as long he could find another couple to join us. About 30 minutes later, we got a call that 2 other couples could join us. We boarded a fishing boat with loads of interior room with large windows which proved to be very handy since it rained for the majority of the voyage. Despite the rain, the scenery was still incredible. Captain Patrick was a lovely, funny, informative and down-to-earth guy. He was extremely attentive to a fellow passenger with mobility issues. We were lucky to see several humpback whales and sea lions and a salmon hatchery. Forget booking with the cruise line excursions. Go local and book with Captain Patrick. You'll save money, have a more intimate experience and have way more fun!

I am not sure where to even begin: Captain Patrick, Captain Patrick accommodating our large group and different schedules, the private catamaran, the whale sightings, sea otters, sea lions, or all of the anecdotal Sitka information and stories shared along the way. We had a group of 8 and Patrick was able to accommodate our party in two separate trips. A trip with just the Captain and 6 guests compared to groups of 50-70 people on a boat was amazing in and of itself. Between Patrick patiently answering all of our questions, including my grandpa’s questions about the boat itself, while hearing his first-hand experience of being born and raised in Sitka was all just wonderful. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We saw likely 3 different whales, all which came up for air and dove about three times each. We saw a sea otter, and a group of sea lions. Patrick stopped and got us as close as safely possible while explaining all about the animals, what they eat, how their migration changes during different parts of the year, etc. We do not have even one complaint and we have zero suggestions for improvement. This was a top notch excursion and you would be wise to book it!

Patrick was amazing - from accommodating a last minute booking to his knowledge of Sitka and where to find the wildlife! We saw whales, otters, sea lions, harbor seals, puffins (and other birds), starfish, and eagles...and that's only what I can remember. He found what we were interested in and made it happen - all the while engaging in great conversation and helping us maneuver about the boat safely to get the perfect photo . The sea was a bit choppy at times but the catamaran and his expertise made us feel quite safe. Highly recommend!

We LOVED our trip with Captain Patrick! We saw sea otters (with babies!), sea lions and a whale. Patrick was very knowledgeable and friendly. Some of the vendors at these ports can seem a little pushy about getting you on their trips (when you arrive of the cruise) but Patrick wasn’t like that at all. We also really liked that the group was very small - just 6 of us in total. Would highly recommend. Thank you for the amazing Sitka memories Patrick. I have always wanted to see otters and will remember this trip forever 😊

What is the cost to go to Goddard Hot springs? Will be traveling worth our kids during spring break. Also what kind of gear should we wear (rubber boots on the boat?)

Generally the cost for the round trip from Sitka to Goddard and ample time at the Hot springs runs $500.00, the vessel is a 30' landing craft making it very convenient to go ashore also heated cabin, light weight rain gear and rubber boots are always good to have. what's the cost of 1/2 day fishing. what's the cost of having fish processed and shipped to CA

Cost for half day fishing is 300.00 per person with a 3 person minimum, cost on fish processing is 3.00 per pound on the outgoing weight and average cost to send out fish to the Lower 48 area is 80.00 up to 50 LBS, if you live near an Alaska airlines hub.
