I’ve never thought to find a place like this so close to us. The canyon has so many campgrounds and picnic areas that we can not even count them all. The nature itself surrounding us is outstanding. You can take not only your car but...More
This is a very nice drive to immerse yourself in the Utah mountains. Lots of winding roads (my ears were popping).great hiking trails. A few bathrooms here and there. Different sites to see. Make sure you wear appropriatee shoes, no sandals.
Drove through part of this canyon. You will need a park pass, yearly or senior citizen, or buy a 3 day pass for $6. We stop at some pull-outs and picnic areas. Very lovely. Wish we had more time. If you are very adventurous, stop...More
Truly enjoyed our time here. Some of the roads I would suggest not attempting without 4-wheel drive but the views sure are worth it. Lots of lakes, trails and streams to explore. We had a nice picnic by a stream.
American Fork canyon has one of my favorite hikes and has amazing reservoirs to play in. Tibble fork reservoir has freezing cold water, but the beach is a great place to rest and enjoy the views around you. After a long day hiking and moving,...More

Last year I spent a weekend up the canyon in Granite Flat campgrounds. It is about a 10 minute drive to Timpanogos Cave. The campground was clean and most had a nice clear area to put up a tent. It has paved roads to get to the camp sites. In the past there have been a few bears sited there but as long as you keep things clean you should not have any problems. Just a mile from the campground is Tibble Fork lake that was recently renovated to provide not only fishing but water sports. There are no showers in this campground and I am not sure of any up American Fork canyon that does. This is a very beautiful canyon and you will love Timpanogos Cave. There is tons of activities in this canyon. Have fun.
