The shops along Bellview Ave are lovely, unique, and staffed by welcoming shop keepers. If you exhaust them and still have energy, move to the wharfs and to Thames St.

What a terrific avenue to stroll and take in all the structures and envision how this area developed in the late 1800s. The roadway is very busy though.

Even if you choose not to go into any mansions, it's nice to walk Bellevue Avenue. There are still private residences, but it's especially fun to check out the outside of the public mansions, up close. You only pay if you want to tour the indoors. Some of them, you can walk around to the back and check out the... More

While there is so much on this street to do including the mansions, this is a great area to do a run as well, it has a great view of the water.

First I drove it, then I walked it. At first I didn't even want to believe these buildings were actually houses; they are so huge and magnificent. They all have their own unique histories; some have tours; but all are easily seen from the sidewalk. There is plenty of shade on Bellevue provided by some of the areas oldest and... More

Drive byes are impressive and not all are open during off-season, but a few are and they are worth the up close and personal tours. You just have to marvel at the extravagance and class disparity during this period of American history which played such an important part in making what this country is today.

This is a must-do when in Newport. It's not a very long drive/walk, but it is the heart of where the mansions are. Although there is no parking for reading the signs along the way, the street could be walked very easily. Trolleys can be used if the walk is too long or if fatigue sets in!

Interesting to see the Mansions and other lovely homes along this drive. We went in December so the traffic was slow allowing us to take our time.

Great way to see Newport by car. It takes a few hours to really see Bellevue Avenue from beginning to end.

A drive along Bellevue is eye opening and beautiful all at the same time. Beautiful stately historical homes. So many homes to see and tour.
