Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Parked here ($15) so we could do Cliff Walk and afterward walked along boardwalk to get a snack (highly recommend the lobster rolls!). Trash all along the sidewalk running along the beach, and the women’s bathroom was absolutely disgusting. We will not be returning. Unfortunately, some of the other local beaches were closed to non-residents.

I spent a fortune on a 2 night stay in Rhode Island with expensive meals to boot.
The parking at Easton Beach was ridiculous. $25 just to park your car. Then since the wind blew the parking ticket onto my car floor I got a $40 parking ticket. I sent in proof that I paid the ticket, but I guess Newport is hard up for money so they denied my parking appeal.
I will cross this state off my list of places to visit again!!!

This beach is easily accessible to the public and convenient for a day with kids, solo, or with friends. Parking was $25 for the day on sight, but $15 or $20 if you were willing to walk a very short distance. Facilities are fine, nothing great, nothing poor. I would recommend this beach to any out of town visitor.

We were able to park on the road at one of the metered spots so it was cheap and convenient. There were lil waves so our kids were able to enjoy swimming. Nice beach for young kids. There was a fishy smell but overall nice and we will return.

We used this facility strictly to park, as it is a few minute's walk from the northern end of the famed Cliff Walk Trail. The daily parking rate of $15 was, in our opinion, a fair price to pay to have a parking pass for the day for this lot. We will note, however, that we got to the parking lot on the earlier side (close to 9 AM) and spots were abundant. By the time we got back around noon, the lot was effectively full. You pay for the lot by using a self-pay kiosk, card only. The beach also has swimming and other facilities, but we did not use those.

Very good beach with very few waves ( good for kids) and centrally located. Minutes to downtown Newport, within eyesight of the Cliffwalk, and easily access to get to many food options. The facilities, grounds and building structures are vintaged and not in the best shape - they can benefit from maintenance and basic renovations. We thought parking was expensively price at a $25 flat fee rate. There is very limited metered street parking.

Easton’s Beach is a 3/4 mile long surf beach at the north end of the Cliff Walk in Newport, Rhode Island. We entered the trail here and saw many surfers riding the waves. Too cold in October for swimming or sunbathing, but watching the surfers was cool.

As a Jersey girl, I have high beach standards. Cannot recommend this beach based on the color (no white sand here, folks!) and texture of the sand (hard!). Apparently they have a worsening issue they refer to as “red tide.” It is highly unappealing reddish brown seaweed with little bugs. It makes the whole beach smell awful. And there is so much of it, that it seems impossible to wade through it. It is supposed to dissipate in cooler weather, so maybe spring or fall would be a better time to visit. Do a Google search on Newport beaches/ red tide to help you decide!

Easton Beach has clean water & soft sand. The Cove is beautiful, with a surf section that I enjoyed surfing in. We also loved the Lobster rolls from the snackbar on the boardwalk! The beach itself is not very big, so come early during peak season, as parking is 1st come 1st serve, But convenient for non-resident parking as well, as we were visiting from New York.

The only reason it doesn’t have a 1 star is the view. There is a reason this is one of the only beaches tourists can come during the covid pandemic. The “red tide” aka red seaweed is invading the whole beach and has left a slushy mess to wade or swim through. The sulfurous smell it lets off is overwhelming and the dead clams don’t help. They have been choked out I’m sure and crawled out of the sand to die. Even the seagulls don’t really want to eat them. The left side of the beach is more crowded but the seaweed is less on that side. If you just want to listen to the waves and find peace, it’s here. The sand is soft and the views are spectacular. It’s right next to the cliff walk. If you love swimming or even sipping your toes, don’t bother. Yuck

It’s free to go on the beach! You just have to pay for parking. Parking in the lot was $15 but parking on street is meter parking. I’m from NJ and that was the cost.

Is there a beach entry fee. If so how much is it for out of state visitors? Is this above the parking fees?
If I plan to visit the second beach and park there do I need to pay again?

Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rental at the pavilion on the roadside, and the fees are reasonable (around $10 per item).

It’s actually in the next town over though people often say it is in Newport. It is called 2nd Beach and is great! It’s about 1 mile long and you can swim, surf, kite surf, boggie board, they have a concession stand and bathrooms.
