Beginning January 1, 2015, the Hall of Fame Museum and Grounds is completely closed to the public for renovations. PLEASE JOIN US MAY 20, 2015 TO VISIT OUR BRAND NEW STATE OF THE ART MUSEUM!

Built in 1880 by the architectural firm, McKim, Mead & White, the Museum galleries chronicle the rich history of tennis through interactive exhibits, dynamic videos and popular memorabilia from historic champions and the superstars of today. Dramatically set in the original club rooms of the Casino, visitors of all ages delight in Stanford White's architectural detail as well as the state-of-the-art gallery experience. In the Woolard Family Enshrinement Gallery plaques commemorate the great players, coaches, administrators and writers that have been inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. There are 235 Hall of Famers, representing 20 countries. In 1986, the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the governing body of tennis, officially recognized the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum as the sport's official Hall of Fame. The property today is now 6 acres and consists of the Newport Casino, 13 grass courts, 1 clay court, an indoor tennis facility, the Court Tennis facility, a grandstand and a historic 297-seat theatre. In July, the venue annually hosts the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships for the Van Alen Cup, the only ATP professional grass court tournament in the Americas. These are the only professional grass courts that are open to the public for play.

Bottom Line: Great place to spend a little time if you are in the area. Details: We visited during Thanksgiving weekend but the weather was on the chilly side so the place was pretty empty. We didn't go to the museum itself so I can't vouch for that portion of the facilities. The grounds were nicely kept and maintained and... More

If you know anything about tennis, you'll enjoy the Tennis HOF. There's lots of history and information. The Casino is a beautiful edifice rich in architectural detail. It would be great to see the summer tournament played on grass. Here as in all of Newport, parking is an issue.

Came here with my wife a year ago and we are both tennis fans, so we had to do this. So glad we went. Very interesting exhibits and a lot of great information. Be sure to pull out the drawers under the window exhibits as there are a lot of artifacts in those drawers. The outside grounds are beautiful and... More

Spent half an hour strolling around. Quite interesting but as I'm not a big tennis fan, it wasnt a lace I'd go back to.

Rich with history and nostalgia. Hopefully you can combine your trip to the museum with live tennis match. A great venue to watch the game.

If you are into tennis like my wife it is worth the stop. Cool to see the trophy's and memorabilia. The sight is an active playing facility which was cool to see.

We stumbled upon this place on a cold and windy day just 30 minutes before it was due to close. I didn't go into the museum. I was simply fascinated by the structure itself and the little bit of history posted. I had never seen a place like it. It fires the imagination because it is unlike most social gathering... More

Don't let the outside of the building deceive you! At first we were skeptical but we decided we need to see this since we are huge tennis fans! This museum is awesome! There is so much to see if you like the history of the sport. It was awesome that they let you play on the grass courts to try... More

This is my second visit to the International Tennis Hall of Fame and I'm not even a huge tennis buff. The museum is excellent with many types of exhibits. We loved strolling the grounds as well and getting to watch a little bit of a court tennis game. This place is a gem and you seem to step back in... More
