The Old Stone Mill is everything from a simple mill, to a templer site, to a possible Viking settlement, to a astronomical observatory. Featured prominently in many alternative historical narratives, anyone visiting the site should do some research and read up as there are no...More

The fact this structure may date back to the time of the Vikings is what makes it fascinating and worth a visit. The area around the park is also fascinating.

This attraction is more of a curiosity rather than an attraction. It is worth visiting but won’t take more than 15 min. However, it is an interesting structure and trying to guess why it was built made for some entertainment.

Interesting that it is so old, but there isn't even a sign to explain what we were looking at. For something supposedly so unique and ancient, it is not presented very well, in my opinion.

It was pouring rain, but I wanted to see the debated structure! We did a drive by of the park and just pulled the car over to look at the Old Stone Mill. It is uniquely designed and debated the purpose! Worth the picture!

The Old Stone Mill has been at the center of debate for decades... is it a mill? Is it a Viking tower? Was it used for storage? Visit and make your own conclusion!

We checked the Old Stone Mill after visiting the Redwood Library. It’s located in a very neat park across the Art Museum. The structure is beautiful. It’s a good area to relax or to walk your dogs.

This mill is set in a small but attractive park at the top of the hill above the harbor area in downtown Newport. This is one of several historic sites in Newport that have nothing to do with the mansions but are very interesting in...More
