Overview
More
Many of Hawaii’s alii (royalty) lived in Waikiki and King Kalakaua selected a 300-acre track of land at the base of Diamond Head for a public park in 1867. Today, it is a gathering place that thrives with walkers, runners, tennis enthusiasts and picnickers. Grab lunch on Kalakaua Avenue and enjoy it in one of the shaded picnic areas scattered around this colorful park.

This is a huge grassy area just east of Waikiki so a good place to sit and relax...many weekends there is music and craft fairs...not much else!

The park is close to a couple of beaches with less people on them and had activities constantly going on, great for people watching. And perfect for a romantic sunset with your special someone.

This is an incredible area to hang out with the family and enjoy both the beach and the park. Very clean washrooms and very clean park area. Loved it.

A stroll through Kapiolani Park is a must. We spent half a day in the delightful and large zoo. The park is a meeting place for families and is very restful.

I love this park for its near consistent festivals and sheer size. There is always something going on here, but it is large enough for you to find your space on the green to set up a picnic, or just lounge in the grass to...More

That weekend, I always go to the art in the park. Vendors come from far and wide and have booths near the bandstand. Sometimes musical groups are performing there, so there's double pleasure. I do much of my Christmas shopping there and find all sort...More

Great beach access, good bathroom facilities, nice grassy areas. The only down side is there's a lot of homeless people hanging around the area, which is a little intimidating.

Kapiolani Park is in the shadow of Diamond Head and the most beautiful place in the world to exercise. I may be bias, as I love that park and look at it as my yard. Great place to run, jog or walk, you can have...More

There are a lot of places you can ask about schedules of events. But the front desk of your hotel should have some of that information and they usually had booklets about the many different tours, etc.

You will find a few fish around here but nothing terribly exciting. If it's snorkeling you're after - sign up with a private tour (we used OPT) where local guides take you to the best snorkeling places around the island... More
