With the largest Japanese woodblock print collection outside of Japan and a superb collection of other asian art, this is one of the finest art museums in the world. Making it unique is its asociation with Doris Duke's Shangri-Law house on Diamond Head with its...More

We spent an interesting morning here as part of our ticket price for Doris Duke' house of Middle East art. Did not like our lunch in the cafe.

Beautiful buildings and great staff, and an extensive collection of art from many different regions. I did not expect to see rooms dedicated to Cambodia and Vietnam or to Europe, but they were there as well as the American, Polynesian, Japanese and Chinese rooms. The...More

These sections were the highlight. The museum itself appears to be undergoing a bit of maintenance so looks less than its best. Admission was $20US which we thought was expensive since many Australian art galleries are much better value for money. Get the number 2...More

Last Friday every month, Art After Dark is a fun way to peruse museum's exhibits. It is full of life with live music, themed entertainment, good food, and great meetups with friends!

What's the estimated time to complete this museum? I have a downtime between two activities with my husband and I would really like to stop by. Is it a small venue?

This museum is not small about 15 collection rooms and courtyards. There are always exhibishion as well. But depending on your schedule, 1 hour or 2 hours will be walking through all collection rooms.

It's unclear where I should park. Also, I want to stay for ArtafterDark and wonder if I have to move my car or can I keep it parked from early afternoon up until 9:00 pm?

I concur with the other two respondents, but would also add that there is paid parking at the Blaisdell Center across Thomas Square and metered parking adjacent to the museum and Linekona Center.

I was going to visit this museum for a couple hours right after I land in Honolulu, before I can check in at my hotel. Will I be able to check in a rather large travel luggage at the museum? Will it be safe?

There's an office just behind the admissions desk where people leave packs and suitcases. The staff is very helpful.
