We had been on submarines before but had time to pass before our ticket to the Pearl harbour memorial could be used. Next time we would probably do the battleship tour on ford island but that shouldn't detract from the submarine experience and what you learn about the submariner efforts in WWII.

This is a self guided tour, but has people inside to show you and teach you things about it. The ship isn't that big, so the self guided tour will not last that long, but still amazing facts to learn, and very interesting things to see down below.

I found this most interesting!! It is so cute inside and a great historical place to visit! I found it frustrating to get a picture from the outside as they are so set on getting their photos of you and people for money. I was turned off by this as there was some rudeness. I think if you paid to... More

Located (moored) on the grounds of the visitor center (and museums, theater, boat launch ...) for the USS Arizona Memorial. A one-way journey (thankfully) into a great portion of the submarine including sleeping quarters, messing (dining, propulsion, weapons, control, conning tower, etc..). Another piece of military history (along with USS Arizona, USS Missouri, Pacific Aviation Museum, Punchbowl Cemetery...and numerous other... More

When will you get a chance to see an authentic, battle tested, WW2 submarine. We all get to be kids for a day.

Taking a 6 year old on a WWII submarine I was expecting a 35 minute visit. WRONG! We spent 2+ hours exploring the boat, listening and re-listening to the narrator; looking into every compartment, trying every dial, It was quite the experience keeping up with him amidst all the knee-knockers. My being over 6 feet tall made head knockers a... More

I couldn't go completely in as I am not good in tight spaces, but my husband and daughter loved it. They said it makes you appreciate the soldiers who served on it.

Just getting on and going through a submarine is fantastic. Makes you wonder how so many sailors could fit in such a small, enclosed place. It sure would have been a very difficult situation for me. As it was, also that day I was there, I was able to see one of our nuclear subs leave the harbor with sailors... More

This was amazing to actually get to see the inside of a submarine. The space is so cramped for the number of people that you know actually lived and worked on it. It is kept to suck a high standard and everything still looks in working condition. There are a couple of ladders to go up and down and some... More
