Statue of Duke Kahanamoku - Worth a Walk By

Stop and take a picture on your walk along Waikiki Beach. It's a beautiful spot at sunset. Great shops and restaurants in the area, too.

The Duke is a favourite meeting spot for everyone. He put surfing on the map and was a really great surfer himself. Really put Hawaii on the map

A must while in Waikiki, great for a family picture or just one of your self, the first man of surfing welcomes you with open arms.

Once when we went to Hawaii a tour meeting asked how many people been to Hawaii before. I and a few others raised our hands. It is most remote inhabited place on the earth. He then said most people only come once and if you are there and want to see something, see it. The statue is right on the... More

Duke's statue is a short walk from Royal Grove Hotel where I usually stay when in Hawai'i. The Hula Mound is just behind the statue and often times there are free performances going on as you look at sunsets. This is a free landmark to visit in Hawai'i and the royal cove beach is just behind the statue and not... More

Interesting statue, part of Waikikis main street. You can visit it on the way to beach or just during night walk.

an interesting statue with temporary lei adornments and other permanent ones, but it is just a statue. Maybe if there had been some information posted (or maybe we failed to see it), this would be a higher rating.

Have visited Waikiki 3 different times and have taken a pic of the Duke each time. Iconic figure. He gets covered in leis which is nice. Difficult to get a decent photo for 2 reasons. 1. too many tourists so you have to wait and wait for your turn 2. the sun is usually behind him so the pic comes... More

The statue is a central meeting place on the beach. It is large and everyone knows where it is. Your group can split up to do their own thing and meet back at this point.

It's a statue of a guy. I suppose if you're very into surfing this might be especially exciting and Duke is particularly important to Hawaii but.... it's a statue of a guy.
