    Breathtaking! Worth it!!
Hubby, our 5-year-old and I hiked up Diamond Head during our vacation and it was totally worth it. Had booked the 8 AM slot as read all the recommendations about heading out early to avoid the unforgiving sun and we were glad we did. I was so sure our toddler would give up and we would just have to call it a day but perseverance and a slow pace meant we accomplished our goal. So many passerbys were proud of him and we were beaming with pride once we hit the summit. Truly beautiful photo ops on the way up and down. Pack your sun hats, water bottles (there’s a refill station by the washrooms) and towel (thank goodness for baby wipes!), wear sunscreen, something breathable and good walking shoes (we didn’t use hiking shoes and were fine) and enjoy!

    Great views from the top
Diamond Head is worth it for the amazing views. But it's a hike!!!! Make sure you have good walking shoes on, keep a bottle of water and are in good shape to make the climb. It takes about 30 minutes to hike up the mountain and it is unpaved, uneven, and rocky. There are no restrooms on top or any water fountains along the way up. We did see parents with kids making this hike as well. The hike up is worth the views Once you're on top. Beautiful panoramic views of Honolulu. You need reservations go get into the park and you need to pay for parking. You can book online. Again, good walking shoes and stay hydrated...!!!!

    Awesome Views Of Paradise
Diamond Head is a natural beauty located at the far right of Waikiki Beach in the paradise that is Hawaii. Diamond head is the perfect location for introducing people to hiking and whilst a challenge due to the heat, the actual incline is not an issue. At the summit, there is stunning views of the Honolulu sea front and makes the long journey to Hawaii worthwhile. I am aware that people attempt to reach the summit prior to sunset and it must be a stunning sight to see. It is important to note that since Covid, you are require to book a spot rather than just turn up. There is a small charge to visit, but it is certainly worth it. I also had the pleasure of running around Diamond Head on a number of occasions and it was an excellent run.

    Diamond Head
It’s a good hike. We actually walked from Waikiki Beach area and back which made the hike 9 miles. The actual hike is really short but a lot of stairs. Great views at the top but a swarm of bugs also hang out at the top. $5 to get in so make sure you pay before you enter and reserve a time. There are a lot of people on this trail.

What an amazing place with amazing views. If you are able and can hike up a steep dirt and rocky trail it is so worth doing. Best view in the state. Make sure you take plenty of water and a poncho if it looks like rain.

    Incredible Views, Easy Hike
RESERVE IN ADVANCE! It was not clear to us when we got there that you need tickets in advance and cannot park in the parking lot unless you book a spot beforehand. This hike is well worth it. The views are incredible. The hike itself is easy for experienced hikers. You can get to the peak and back down in 30 minutes to an hour. The most difficult part for us was finding parking and getting stuck behind people who brought young children on the hike (I would not recommend bringing young kids).

Worth the walk and the views!
Loved doing this, was like a rite of passage! Great views, not too hard of a hike and staff were so helpful! The walk takes about 30min but might take longer as you need to take water breaks and pauses for pictures!

    Great Views, Great Hike
This is a big uphill hike, but doable for most people. Not good for strollers though. Great views from the top, so take some time when you get up there. The reservation system works great for a worry free parking experience.

    Beautiful Hike
Purchased our tickets ahead of time online to be able to drive inside and park. We arrived a few minutes before our time slot and parked. There are bathrooms at the base of the trail and I highly recommend stopping there before starting the trail. It is a bit of a steep climb, but the views are well worth it. There are plenty of places to stop along the way if you need a rest. This is a must see if you are in Honolulu. You will not regret it.

The must do hike of Waikiki
A great hike up the scenic landmark. Take plenty of water and your reservation from the state website. People say to go early, but midday might be less crowded. We went around 9 o clock and there were tons of people going and coming. As we were descending around 10 or so, it seemed that the crowds ascending were lighter. It is not necessarily a long hike, but it is challenging, and there is a tunnel where it is very narrow but the ascenders and descenders must pass each other. If your size is such that you will take up the whole width of the tunnel or other areas on the trail yourself, that could be an awkward or embarassing situation.

My wife and I spent a Sunday morning hiking Diamond Head. We took an Uber to the vistors center (we were staying on Waikiki at the Halekulani). After arriving around 8AM we did the 0.8 mile hike to the observation platforms. Many visitors went early to enjoy the Sunrise and were on their way down. The cooler temperatures and shade made the hike easier. When we arrived the observation platforms were not overfilled with hikers, something I think happened as we saw the overflowing parking lot and many people beginning the hike as we ended. The only problem was the low sun angles made terrestrial pictures difficult - either your camera or your eyes were directly at the sun. I would imagine midday has the best photo ops but would be more crowded and a lot warmer. A tip - after the long tunnel you have the option of climbing steep metal stairs to the top on the right (with an arrowing pointing in that direction) or a longer and much less steep route on the left which generally serves as a way down (but apparently not mandatory).

We walked home from the visitors center which was 3.2 miles to our Halekulani home.

Make sure you are wearing proper footwear and give yourself plenty of time to scope out the best spots for the sunrise. It will get crowded at this time of day but it is worth it!

Doing the hike at Dawn is also a treat as the weather is perfect and going up in the twilight and coming down in the sun is a neat experience. Take a look at my pics to see what I'm talking about, I'll let the photos do the talking.

Loved every moment of this hike, even though I complained about all the stairs. The views are breathtaking. A definite must for all visitors of Oahu. We walked there from Waikiki, so we saved the $5.00 parking charge, which is really reasonable. The charge to hike Diamond Head is only $1.00 per person. Very reasonable and well worth it!

After five visits to Oahu I decided that I would make the time to hike the trail. It did not disappoint, as I found it both challenging and rewarding. The nice thing is that the trail is mostly paved or rock, although there are a few very narrow points on the trail. There are also some very steep stairs located at the top of the trail, this is a none issue for athletes but non-athletes can definitely make it as long as they take rest stops as needed and stay hydrated. The views are nice but what was more rewarding to me was completing the hike. . I would recommend this to anyone that likes a challenge and is physically capable of hiking on steep trails. My non-athletic 57 year old wife made it 95% up the trail and a friend that weighs 350+ made it about 80% up the trail.

We chose to visit Diamond Head at the most crowded time of day- 10am during the holiday break. While the hike was fairly easy, the crowds definitely took away from any kind of peaceful hike. My entire family had wished we had arrived around 7:30 or 8 to beat the crowds. The views from the top were fantastic but super crowded.

Wow what a view is all I can say. It was well worth all the stairs at the top. Paved path part of the way a little rocky the rest. Not a bad hike about an hour round trip. We took hotel shuttle as parking is very limited. I must recommend the Pineapple Dole Whip at the bottom afterwards it's better than the Dole Plantation’s.

What a sad time when people cannot follow simple directions on a trail to stay off of things and to stay within the allowed areas. This trail was crowded with so many people who had zero concerns for park rules. The park must have more personnel on the trail to control the crowds. People do not know how to behave.

This is a beautiful hike and the views are spectacular, but the crowds really are terrible. The park does a great job getting traffic in and out, but they must manage the trail better.

Wear good shoes, sunscreen, a hat and take water. So many people looked overheated and miserable due to their poor choices. It is a very short trail, but you go straight up and there are stairs.

Best trip ever, went out at 9am, a family of dolphins swam in front of our boat with us, then we we stopped at our destination and we were swimming with the sea turtles, the dolphins swam thru us out to sea, there beautiful tropical fish that were around us at all times while in the ocean. Captain mark and Ali were so much fun, dont forget your own under water camera , they had awesome island music and free fresh pineapple/cookies and water during trip. Thank youuuuu! I decently will do it again!😄
