About
We are home to a visual history of American Signage from 1870 through 1970. Hand carved wooden signs, gold leaf, electric light bulbs, and neon all grace our walls and tell amazing stories, especially when told by our founder and avid collector Tod. Take a trip down memory lane and visit us in the Camp Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati!

- dustythoughtsManchester, Connecticut2,128 contributionsBright, intriguing museumI heard about this museum from a friend and was really intrigued, so decided to stop by during some free time. This place did not disappoint! It's absolutely jam-packed with a tremendous variety of commercial signs - I hadn't thought until now about how many different kinds of commercial signs actually exist. Some of the signs are incredibly bright, so if you're sensitive to bright lights, I'd recommend bringing sunglasses (no joke). This isn't a very large museum, but really worth a visit.Visited March 2023Written 31 March 2023
- Hi183765Wentzville, Missouri75 contributionsSuch A Cool Little Museum!Super nifty museum. True to its name, filled with so many cool old signs. The audio tour, completed on your phone- so bring headphones, gave detailed information. There were also informative placards at most of the signs and an informative video. Very cool. A must see for quirky museum goers and lovers of Americana.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 April 2023
- andrealenaPickerington, Ohio134 contributionsYou must stop here! Really neat!Wow, what a great museum! Take the tour that is offered (Alex was our guide and he was so friendly, animated, knowledgeable, passionate about signs and history, and conversational) to get some interesting stories about the signs. I believe there is a similar audio tour you can listen to on your phone as well. The signs are all extremely well preserved and organized by era and type. The neon and lightbulb signs really stand out but it was fascinating and fun to look at all of the signs throughout the museum. Alex mentioned that the museum is nearly doubling its space in the next few years to add more recent signs so I hope to go back again once that is done to see more. You need about an hour, maybe a little more, to go through the museum. It’s a neat little trip down memory lane and you’ll be surprised to learn some things too!Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 31 May 2023

- Laura K5 contributionsOh, I remember that sign!So many signs!! They seem to have outgrown their space, but it was a great little gem in the city. Worth the time. Saw the cutest twins in a stroller--all wide eyed and looking around in awe. Their parents said they call the Sign Museum the "lighty blinky" place...how cute! Nostalgic and interesting. Jam packed with signs, but plenty of room to roam.Visited July 2023Written 31 July 2023

You could tell he enjoyed sharing all he knows! There were many signs that brought back good memories. My mechanic husband's favorite sign was the wooden wrench & mine was the neon Colonial cows! We were told they are going to be doubling the size of the museum to be able to display so much more of what they have. We will be back to check that out!!!Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 August 2023

This is a very fun museum and they have interesting displays and all kinds of signage types.
I did both the audio tour and the tour with Alex. He put's on his "announcer" voice and takes us through the museum offering educational tidbits throughout.
Definitely an interesting stop for someone wanting to know more about this type of history and how it advanced.
Price not too steep, free onsite parking

This is difficult to rate for me to rate. It is a serious museum about signs....all kinds of signs.. I was looking for a mind blowing, neon filled, over the top experience. There was some of that, but not as intense as I had hoped for. I spent about fifteen minutes here and was ready to go. I thought it was worth the price of admission, but I doubt I'll be taking visitors here. I think others will fine it more interesting.
