To me, not all history is interesting--in fact, some is downright boring. We watched the video then took the driving tour. There was an issue with the recorded narrative at the first stop, but we heard enough to know it was repeating the video narrative. We didn't attempt to listen to the others. We did not walk any of the... More

I've wanted to see this place for many years and I finally got to see it! The Visitor's Center is very nicely done and very informative. The Rangers are very knowledgeable and helpful to! We even got our son yet another Junior Ranger badge!! We didn't get to take the driving tour however as it was getting late and we... More

Be sure to see the short video before going on the battle sites.. Then see the lighted display of the soldiers movements in the displays. The Ray home was not open at this time of year, but you could peek in the windows. The audio at the sights gave you an idea of what was happening.

Man, what a moving experience. I haven't been to many battlefields, but this one certainly offered me and my family everything we'd hoped for. A very well kept museum and informative film before touring the battlefield prepared us for the 5-mile drive that came next. The site offers dial-in information segments with prompts along the way, which added a lot... More

We really enjoyed the driving tour of the battlefield. Almost every stop along the tour had buildings or trails to look at or walk along to give you a better idea of how the battlefield was laid out. It was easy to imagine what it would have looked like during war time.

Very informative park on the Civil War in southern Missouri. Went with my family to get information for my oldest son's 4th grade school project.

We totally missed this on Trip Advisor since we didn't know to look under things to do in Republic, MO. We were visiting Springfield, and this is right there. Fortunately a face to face encounter led us to this informative center. My husband is a Civil War buff and this was a perfect addition to our itinerary. It was a... More

If you are interested in historic sites, civil war specifically this is a must see. This site was the first civil war battle west of the Mississippi. I would recommend taking the time to go into the center there to watch the videos and seeing all the objects they have on display. also, stop at every marker and read the... More

If you love history, especially Civil War history, Wilson's Creek needs to be on your "to do" list any time you are in the Springfield, Missouri area. This battlefield is located about 20 minutes southwest of Springfield. It has a Visitor's Center for first time visitors. The hours vary by season. In February, the hours are 8-5, but typically expand... More

We were short on time so we opted for the driving tour. It was great because we could get out and walk/hike to nearby points and get a better sense of the field. The little museum inside is very informative as well. The park rangers were also very friendly and helpful!
