We drove by the Fountain Paint Pot on our way out of the park. There really isn't much to see so I'm glad we didn't have to park and get out of the car. You have plenty of time to see it from the roadway.

This is a must do on your way to Canyon (from West Yellowstone) or anywhere else you are in the park. It is a short walk from the road. We went first thing in the AM - kids were blown away by the mud pots...More

After a long day of sightseeing we just weren't sure it'd be worth...and it turned out to be one of our favorites!

No two geysers are the same, hence the name. This hydro-thermal area is a must visit area in the vast and varied Yellowstone area.

Try it early in the morning, like 7am. It was otherworldly! What sets it apart from the other spots are the bare trees with the blanched lower trunks. Totally surreal....please don't miss!

Just after we arrived at YNP we stopped here and it was just fascinating and other worldly. The springs/geyers/formations were an amazing sight to behold.

And you might see a geyser go off in addition to the paint pots. The walk way is easy and well worth the visit. We were lucky enough to see a geyser go off while we were walking around.

There are so many awesome places in Yellowstone to visit and this is another one of them. The colors are awesome. Colors you won't see anywhere else. Beautiful place and one to visit.

If you have time for only one of these areas, this should be the place. It has at east one of everything from boiling mud to geysers and steam vents. There's an extensive boardwalk trailthat is worth the hike.

Paint Pot is a must see on the Lower Basin. From deep blue pools filled with exotic minerals to vents of gases that come from very deep in the crust of the area. Pools of bubbling mud as well as geysers gushing Silica as well...More
