This 5-mile loop trail is fantastic in the month of June. Colorful wildflowers dot the trail, lush-green landscape feels inviting and gentle breeze motivates to go further and further. Beaver ponds, although much smaller, are beautifully nestled among pine trees and can result in a...More

This is a fairly easy, family friendly hike, probably about 5 miles to the loop, that skirts around the higher country around Mammoth Hot Springs. Best bet is to find the trail behind the lodge rather than at the rest room parking area, and continue...More

We saw an elk and her calf right off the trailhead. It climbs up initially but not anything strenuous. The beaver ponds aren't very exciting and it's rare to see beavers out and about. But we did see a badger! The way back down is...More

I began from the Mammoth visitor centre with my family in July 2017. The day was perfect as it was cool and cloudy, threatening a thunderstorm. In the end only a few big drops fell. This hike crosses several types of terrain. We did not...More

It's a very nice walk of about 5 miles, only mildly strenuous. However, the last mile and a half (roughly) is completely exposed if you go clockwise. So if you do the walk in the morning you'll reach the exposed section at midday--not nice. Go...More
