The parking area is closed for renovation all summer 2017. If you go past the parking area you dead-end/turnaround at Artist's Point.....see our review for parking tips. The stairs are open, but you must go to Artist's Point, park and walk the South rim trail,...More

Wow, the views are amazing, but the walk backup are crazy. The parking lot was closed while were were there, but you could park at another one, a mile away, and hike to it. The walk was good, the walk down was easy, but the...More

This was a really cool experience! Don't let the steps dissuade you because it's worth the effort. Try to go early to beat the crowds and this will also allow you to take your time on the stairs without feeling rushed. My advice on any...More

While at the park, we tried to do the Falls area as completely as possible and did quite a bit of hiking and picture taking. This area was closed. If you do go to the area and it's opened again, please do so early in...More

A beautiful view of the Lower Falls taking 500 steps down from the South Rim. Well worth the effort.

It's certainly very doable by anyone in halfway decent shape, if necessary you can stop and rest when you need to. It's super interesting to read about the "original " Uncle Tom's Trail. Once you read the sign describing that, you feel like you won't...More

We were told that this is the coolest trail in the park, but when we drove up to the turn off the road is blocked and there were lots of construction vehicles working. The stairs really have the best view of the waterfall. Maybe another...More

I do not recommend Uncle Tom's trial despite its fame. For me, it's difficult hiking for the sake of difficulty. I'd rather go to Artist point to relax and hit gyms more after the vacation.

Rather easy downstairs, but upstairs the trail is hard even for trained persons. The fall from there is close and you have a particular view of it, though I prefer the more complete view from Artist Point.

I was really looking forward to Uncle Tom's Trail because I'm a big fan of waterfalls so the closer the better. However, when my boyfriend and I went from May 27-May 30th 2017 it was closed. We asked several people when they thought it would...More

The hike is very short and the entire descent, viewing (raving), and ascent should take no more than an hour.

In general, National Parks request that people never take animals with them on the paths. I know people love to travel with pets, but out of courtesy to others and regard for regulations, please leave your dog at home.
