Travel the road all of the stage coaches used to enter Yellowstone. It goes from Mammoth behind the hotel, up and over the ridge. It travels through desert giving you wonderful views of the surrounding area. Typically I see pronghorn, mule deer, occasionally elk, as...More

Next to Blacktail Plateau Drive, this is my next favorite gravel side road in YNP. There are usually few people on this road. Great views of Mammoth Hot Springs and Gardiner. The road seemed in better condition than last year. If you come to the...More

Lots of great wildlife on this road in the winter. We saw a herd of more than 50 wild sheep. Large herd of elk. Large herd of bison. To our surprise, the Indians were parked right outside the park waiting to shoot and butcher bison....More

It's a dusty and noisy road, but it's a great place to see Pronghorn, and maybe Bighorn Sheep. Definitely worth the drive, and it's a great way to come in to Yellowstone.

We took this dirt road to see a little more of the scenery that is usually missed. We did not see any animals but enjoyed the drive.
