Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You need to climb 328 steps to reach the entrance to the cave. Once there enjoy the view. The cave is very large with a lit pathway inside. I thought it was great. My friend has been to many caves so she was less impressed. After we came down we went over to see the stream that comes out of the cave. There were kids swimming in it. It looked refreshing as we were very hot.

Worth the steep staircase. Possibly the best cave I have seen to date. The coloured lights feel a bit tacky, but at the same time make for some interesting visuals, as the light reflects off the tiny mineral deposits in the stone. Take some bathers - the water looked beautiful where the local kids were swimming.

Admission to the general area is 5,000 kip and then admission to the cave itself is 15,000 kip. The cave is up quite a lot of stairs which got tiring at the top. We enjoyed walking around the cave for around half an hour or so, and it makes for some cool pictures. Worth a visit for a quick trip if staying nearby.

At the time of June 2022, the bridge connecting the shore of Vang Vieng town to the Tham Chang cave area was washed away by floods. Tourists have to ride by raft on the river to visit The cave. The cave has an entrance located halfway up the mountain, visitors go through the stairs to reach the cave entrance. However, from the entrance of the cave, you can zoom in to see the whole town of Vang Vieng from above.

Tham Chang cave complex is the closest cave to Vang Vieng city with the entry fee being 5000 Kip. After entering the complex parked my bike and had to walk across the long bridge built across the Nam Song river. After crossing the bridge came to the entrance of the stairways leading to the caves.Entrance fee was 10,000 Kip and It was a long arduous walk up the broad stairs to the entrance of the cave. The entrance was just a small opening but once inside the cave it seemed a endless maze of narrow tunnels. This cave was used as a bunker to defend against the marauding Jeen Hor (Yuaneese Chinese) during the 19th century and hence the most famous cave in Vang Vieng. Thankfully it was well lit and i was one of the earliest tourists inside this historic cave.Almost got lost in the maze of tunnels trying to find my way back to the entrance and advice tourists to go along with a guide or in a group.

Worth visiting the caves, will need to be prepared for the steep steps and a fair few of them.
Once you get to the top worth the work as the caves inside are pretty cool.

Only a 20 walk from Vang Vieng, we decided to go for a stroll. The cave is average size and is well lit up, but there are far more fascinating caves in Laos than this one. A fee to cross the bridge and cave entrance is about 20,000kip each.

This place is magical once you get to the cave!
Get ready to challenge your body with the stairs to this cave, but once you get there you won't regret why you went!

Its very well lit inside but don't forget to carry a torch or light for some parts have steps that you may need to see!
Best time to go is 8:00am 10:00am its not very conjested you can take wonderful pictures and also enjoy the views from the top!
Its recommendable for those physically fit and energetic!
If you really want to go carry a walking stick to help you up here and find someone to go with.
There is a spot where you can swim down after the cave but take care its not so big for more than 2 or one person!

Wear if possible comfortable rubber shoes not push in sandles. Some spots are waterlogged so you need your feet covered.
I highly recommend it!
Its a must see while you're in Vang Vieng!
