Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

They charge Q50 for entry (around US6.5) and give you a tour that, in my opinion, is not worth it. The place IS beautiful and indeed, there are orchids (miniature) but there are, they also give repellent and a cup of tea which I imagine tries to cover the value of the tour, but if I had known I would have saved that entrance fee. The guide is friendly, but as I mentioned before, I do not consider the value of this tour to be Q50

I think it is more worth going to the Biotope since, depending on the season, you can find some flowers, mushrooms and even certain types of fauna.

Quite a small trail, but very informative about orchids. The price of 50 quetzales each includes insect repellant, an introductory video, a guided tour and a cup of refreshing tea. We were the only visitors (mid afternoon, mid-week) so we had a personal tour and a calm environment.

About an hour walking around the gardens admiring orchids of all sizes, including ones so small you'd need a magnifying glass to properly appreciate them. Our guide F was sweet and knowledgeable, although the tour was conducted in Spanish. All in all very cute timepass if you need to kill an afternoon on Coban.

Great way to spend 1.5 hours near Coban. Currently, tours are only in Spanish but you don't need to understand much to see the beauty of the flowers. Great place to spend money and aid nature conservation efforts in Guatemala.

There are so many species of orchid that something is guaranteed to be blooming any time of year. There was also a nice cardamom tea at the end.

Professional introduction to the world of Guatemalan orchids including a film, after which you get mosquito repellent and a magnifying glass for better observation and follow the guide up the very well paved path to a lookout tower. You pass several information stations. At the end there is a tea and you can buy souvenirs or just watch the colorful hummingbirds at the feeding stations

Orquigonia is a sanctuary of Orchids, founded and preserved by the third generation of a local family who dedicates their lives to the research and preservation of these plants in the Coban region - all done with much love. There is a guided tour (our guide was very attentive and dedicated telling more about the history of the place and the plants). It is a must visit for those who pass through this region.

We really enjoyed our visit
It was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. The gardens are beautiful and the guide (Hector) was excellent. He taught us a lot about orchids and without him we would have seen nothing.
Well worth a visit

Excellent and informative tour. Interesting to learn about orchids and see so many. This place is doing excellent conservation work in the midst of a lot of a deforestation. Come here to show your support and to learn something new. 75Q for a guided tour and cup of tea at the end. Easy to reach by bus from Cobán. Take a bus opposite Plaza Magdalena heading in the direction of Guatamala city/ San Cristóbal Verapaz and ask to get off at the Orquigonia. Should cost between Q3 - Q5. Great half day activity.

Beautiful place and knowledgeable staff. I learned so much about orchids. Definitely a must see! Only 45 min from Coban. The tour is a little over an hour. You get warm tea at the end abs can also purchase certified flowers.

Guatemala, and the area of Cobán above all, is well known for its orchids. In fact, the national plant is a subtype of an orchid called the “monja blanca” (white nun). Orquigonia is the best place to see and learn about these beautiful plants. The tour is very informative and definitely worth the price. Highly recommended!
