If you go to Iceland you must make time and take the drive to this National Park and Europe's largest Glacier. It is truly massive and impressive. From the visitors center you can take a 2 mile walk to get up close and personal with...More

The park is a large region so you will find anything you want...hiking, camping, waterfalls, it's a must visit area.

One hell of a snowboard/ski slope! Just imagine myself posting this up as a photo background - or being sneaky enough to ride its 5-mile length via snowmobile . . . . one area to CERTAINLY not traverse in with a Segway or a Can-Am!

One of the best things to do while in Iceland!! The visitor center is very informative and gives good service. Unfortunately, we had not booked in advance, so we could not get a chance to go on a guided hike or trail. But we did...More

This place is enourmous, soulfull and breathtaking. The only regret is not staying long enough (two nights) to explore it more and do longer hikes and treks. Its the perfect base for a glacier hike, which was our goal, the views and the landscape here...More

Lovely place to visit. Great experience. Recommend it for a quick visit. Don't need too long there. Beautiful thing to see.

Less visited than some of the sights on the Golden Circle route, this glacier and falls are stunning. A hike to the top of the mountain gives you stunning views of the black basalt hemmed falls.

Beautiful park where we did a glacier hike that was spectacular. There are lots of hiking trails in the park though in the winter not all are open.

It's a short walk from the parking area. If you want to climb the glacier go with a pro. Weather is a factor of course. I feel it's best observed from the ground.
