Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Perched upon a mountain outcrop, outside Prilep ,the monastery opens a fine view of the plains below (all the way to Sv Preobrazheni Monastery, I believe), that in itself makes the detour well worth the while. The monastery is undergoing a massive reconstruction. View of the church interior and the fine frescoes is at times obstruct, by scaffoldings, and some squeezing may be required of those who,d want to see the entire premises. The effort is definitely worth the while.

While the mountain-top location is impressive, the monastery is currently a construction site. Not worth visiting until the renovation has been substantially completed—which is going to be a while. That said, it is good to see that the monastery is being physically rescued.

The best way to get there is by Markovi Kuli going from Prilep. Wandering along the ridge provides amazing views. You can also take a car near the monastery and walk a to the monastery not far. The monastery of XII - XII century is currently [2018] restored. After the reconstruction it will probably be amazing. The buildings are well preserved, the frescos are heavily damaged, but it looks like they will be restored.

This is an excellent monastery. If you hike, it is well worth the 2 hour + hike. If you drive, there are great scenes. You'll enjoy.

Very beautiful old monastery, worth seeing even if some of the buildings are under restoration because of fire.
But most of all I recommend the beautiful hike from this monastery to Markovi Kuli mountin Prilep.
Took us 1 hour and 40 minutes quick walk. Add 30 minutes for a bit slower walk with time for photostop. We started late and did not want to be caught by the dark.
Stunning wives, especially in sunset! If you like walking do not miss this. Easy to follow route, red and white markings.

Treskavec is definitely a must see monastery - the frescoes are amazing. When I visited a lot of constructions/renovation works were going on, but still very worth to see.

One of the highlights of our holiday in Macedonia. The drive and the setting are wild and spectacular. Unhappily the monastery was very badly damaged in a fire in 2015, so much of it looks rather sad, but the mountains are still there, and so it the church. And now they are rebuilding, and there are signs that much need restoration work will begin on the church.
Father Kallist speaks very good English and will explain the history, and the frescos in the church. As well as being beautiful and spirituel they are remarkable in that they cover a long period, from the 16th to 19th century so those who are interested can get an idea of the post-Byzantine styles of this region.
Since we heard about the fire, we were considered not to bother with going. We were persuaded otherwise by the receptionist at the hotel (Atlas). Don't be put off!

I fell in love with this place! We hiked from Prilep to Treskavec monastery, it took us about an hour and a half. The path was so colorful because it was early autumn. We arrived to the monastery just to see the sunset. It was overwhelming! We spent the night there, for free, in the morning we took a tour of the monastery and the church, took a walk around and then went back to Prilep. For me, it is the most mesmerizing place in Macedonia. If you go there, you won't be sorry! :)
