We walked up the ‘back way’ rather than up the front which is where the majority of people park up & walk from main entrance. This is an exceptionally challenging walk in places but it is well set out and the view at the top...More

This was a good walk to have an overall view of Wanaka. The path was an easy walk up and we had a view of the lake and town. Would recommend as an easy thing to do in wanaka, takes only a couple of hours.

This is not the hardest of hikes but there are some steep parts in places that gets the heartbeats up a bit. The track is a circular route if you want to do it, (and I would advise that you do), but if you are...More

We were staying in Queenstown and had already done several tracks there and in Glenorchy, so we drove to Wanaka for the Mt. Iron track. The drive was challenging in places, going over the mountain pass on hairpin turns in snow-covered mountains (but no snow...More

This was a fairly easy hike located close to the town. This does mean that there are a lot of locals walking this track, often with their dogs off the leash. As ground is a bit muddy it's a bit hard to see if you're...More

If your in town and have a spare 60 to 90 minutes this is a brilliant. Taster of local hiking and is easy and accessible to town. Winter or summer a must do run or walk.

The walk starts just out of the town, near the puzzle place but on the opposite side of the road. Plenty of car parking space just off the main road. Well sign posted but quite steep in places. The loop walk took us close to...More

An easy climb that gives you great views over the area. The path is a gravel track that zig zags up the Mountain. It is not too steep an incline and you can stop and pause to take in the views. As the path heads...More

If you are looking for an easy hike with a nice view in the immediate Wanaka area then this is it. It will take a bit (about 30-45 minutes) to get to the top but once you do you won’t regret it.

It's a short round hike from Wanaka town, up and down in about an hour and half, with fantastic views of the Lake and the surrounding mountains from the top. Do carry water, there's no water supply along the track. Ideal for hiking, jogging, taking...More

Hi, As in the previous answer - go out of Wanaka and park up on the left hand side of the road - no problems re parking. Go through the gate which is marked - towards the signed trail. You can go up one side and down the... More
