I sit here trying to think of superlatives I haven't used since arriving in NZ 4 weeks ago. I can't think of one so I am just going to say ... jus get out there and do it.

We drove through the park and hiked several of the trails offered. The beauty is simply stunning and breathtaking. Definitely worth a few stops while you are in the area.

It is hard to say that the scenery is better at one place than another, because it is beautiful wherever you go in the South Island of NZ. There was still snow on the mountains during our visit. In fact, it actually snowed in September....More

If you’re in Wanaka then I will highly recommend driving to Mt. Aspiring; it is one the best drives in NZ and not many know making it idyllic. There is a lot of gravel road and if any car is ahead of you then I...More

The walk to Aspiring Hut is 2-3 hrs depending on age and fitness. It is mostly flat and crosses farmers fields with STUNNING views of the mountains.

This is an iconic drive even if you do no walking. The Southern Alps topped with snow and the spring snow melt making the waterfalls gush is a sight I will never forget. A true highlight of our trip.

I think we were very lucky when we explored this valley following the river: it was quiet with only a couple of locals in farm utes; we had a reasonably competent soft roader with good ground clearance to ford the river in several places; the...More

This is a great "off the beaten track drive" wwith some great mountain and river scenery. There are numerous river ford crossings so be certain that your vehicle has adequate clearance. You pass through farmland and see herds of Sheep, Wapiti, Elk and Cattle. For...More

I meant dirt roads. A car is a must in New Zealand interior land.

Kamran the walk is relatively easy but is not paved and includes a swing bridge. I do not think it is a good track for a stroller but short enough to take the kids.
