My first top list wanted do trail after discovering the beauty of its surrounding. Never regret for the plan changes from my origin itinerary due to time constraints. The track is all the way uphill with some path quite steep but the views throughout the...More

The track is steep but totally worth the effort. At the top, amazing sceneries, a stunning view and a great walk in the snow. Amazing walk

This was a real struggle both physically and mentally. Both my husband and I love to walk daily flat walking that is! But a 3 hour hike of pain gave us an hour of glorious views that we both will never forget!! Steep inclines in...More

It's steep going up, and the track went from dirt to mud to slush to ice to snow. So you need good footwear, hiking boots really, at least in winter But it is absolutely worth it. The views are magnificent. Mountains and lakes for miles.

I have underestimated what it takes to get to the top and was in rush. Made it just before sunset and it is a super rewarding place to be. Beautiful vista and great for photography (and selfies). Chilly on top.

This hike was tough but doable for someone with moderate/normal fitness. You don't have to be an especially seasoned hiker but you need some endurance and a good attitude. The way up is very steep with very few plateaus and we had to take some...More

I wanted to do this track from the very first day I started planning our trip to NZ, but after checking the DOC website and seeing the mention of ice axe/crampon requirements in winter, we were worried we would be out of our league (neither...More

Nice Half day hike. I definitely was cursing as the uphill never seemed to end, but i did reach the end. Downhill was joyous, just have to be careful with the ankles! Scenery kept changing so there was a lot to take in!

This track is exactly that - a steep hike up to the saddle/summit, easy track and definitely worth it!!! You pass a lot of sheep and as you go up, your views of the landscape become more remarkable. I went In winter and around the...More

It's definitely easier to wear the baby. I wouldn't recommend taking the pram as the track is not so smooth and is going up all the time. Enjoy!

Hi Sammy, I haven't walked the track in winter, but I think if the weather is clear and not too windy it might be ok. Be careful though as cold conditions might make the track slick which would make the descent scary. I... More
