Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely Medieval Castle in a great location with amazing views over the sea in front and the mountains behind. Nice little walk up the hill and around the castle grounds and only 3 euro entry fee. Afterwards, we went to Platamonas Beach and had a coffee by the sea.

This castle exceeded our expectations, and made a refreshing change from classical/hellenistic sites. It is beautifully located, well-preserved and there is a good route to follow. The guidebook is also useful. An excellent place to visit if you are in the area. A shame the donjon (keep) was not accessible, but that is a minor matter.

Platamon castle is a great castle. One of the many castled of Greece. Worth the visit and for the walk inside the walls and to see the astonishing view of the gulf. Nice place for concerts and other activities. A touristic spot of the platamon area.

€2 per person. You have to park at the bottom of the hill and walk up. So rich in history and a very strategic location during Byzantine era. Worth visiting and very well maintained.

Platamonas castle is the symbol of the area and if you have a chance you should definitely visit it. Below castle is a parking lot for cars and buses and from that point it's a short walk up the hill. Perfect activity for families and even for elderly people. There's a 2 euro entrance fee and you'll need about 30-40 mins to see the inside. Make sure to bring your camera because the view is spectacular from the old castle walls.

It is unacceptable that this place is unsupported. The place is ancient, old and is related to Bulgarian history.

When we travel, it is always nice to visit historic sites. The castle and grounds are well maintained. Nice map at the entrance. Signage and numbers at landmarks. Only €2 entry. Great views of Mt. Olympus and the Mediterranean Sea.

A footpath leads from the parking lot to the gate of the castle. There are two smaller towers and the main tower, the so called “Donjon” which has its own walls. Sadly it’s not open to visitors. The “Donjon” was a last refuge for the defending side incase of a siege. Inside the castle you can find churches, houses, a smithy, pottery and other buildings testify to the life of the past. You can also see preserved cannons, which were used as a defense against pirates and as a general defense of the castle. You can also see cisterns for water, they were used as a water reserve when defending against a longer siege. You definitely should visit this castle. You can park literally next to the castle site, and its easily accessible. I also recommend that you go around the castle before going in, as you can find really amazing views for photography. The price for entering the castle is 2 Euro per person, and you pay when you enter the castle. While visiting around the castle I actually saw a very cute turtle! You can see that in the pictures below.
