No doubt that this is an impressive railway viaduct and a great example of period engineering but it’s no better than many similar examples back home (there are two within a 15 minute drive of our house). Nonetheless, it does make for an interesting walk...More

We walked here from our airbnb which was only about 2km away. We walked along the train tracks to catch the train that was meant to arrive at 5:30 but it was delayed and only arrived at 6:20. We were really glad we stayed because...More

We were waiting for a train to cross with lots of other people, a heavy downpour started. Thank god we had an umbrella, still got wet. Train crossed, everyone took photos, then we walked back to Ella along the railway track. A little adventure.

Most of the people were taking the hill route while we were walking on the rails from the Ella station where we’re not many, just some tourists. Maybe naively, as we did not see too many people on the rails, we were expecting the place...More

The bridge and the view there is amazing. Visit it in the middle of the day. The light is the best then.

My advise is to go early in the morning! It will be less packed and crowded with people that ruin your photos. Lol The view is pretty and the walk towards is fun through the jungle. You can spot some monkeys.

Built in the 1920's it is interesting to see for a short while. Curved Bridge with nine arches is probably a better photo op when a train is passing along it.

We squeezed in a visit on the morning of our departure for the airport. You take a little trail through the forest which takes about 10 minutes to walk and you reach a viewing point where you can look down on the bridge. The scenery...More

I got there at around 6 - 6:30 am and were able to see the crossing the train. So you might plan your trip accordingly. The whole place is good for taking photos and relaxing. Go through the tunnel to see the other side, less...More

No need to hike. The easiest and fastest way to reach there as follows. Take a van and travel towards to "Haliela" (On Badulla main road) and there is a Sign board with 9 arch bridge on your right side. Take that road you... More
