About
Historical monument, the smallest of the chateaux of the Loire has a history that dates 600 years back and brings a mosaic of ancient decors from more than 10 chateaux of the Loire destroyed after the French revolution and collected by the historian Louis de La Saussaye at the XIXth century. Sold only twice in its history, it is in the same family for 600 years. The old winery is a small jewel of refinement with decors of Elements sparking great artistic and cultural interest, it is a haven of peace in its green setting surrounded by vineyards. Opened for business for 40 years, his visit shows a set of architectural interest and al English park with rare species as well as a chicken coop. Its soft atmosphere of intimate and personal dwelling is a refinement for lovers of subtlety and wellbeing. The guided tour lasts about 40 minutes and can remain stroll or picnic in the English park al. Since May 2015, the young owner opened among other things of bed and breakfast and cottages for contrinuer has maintained its field in good condition and make it live and it is a small business.

An ideal place to enjoy the Loire region while en route to the south of France. Beautiful place for those that enjoy the authenticity, from the breakfast served in porcelain to the wallpapers made the oldfashioned way. Our children loved “our” castle with its animals and large garden even more than the well known ones we visited. Our small apartment extisted of two separate bedrooms, ideal for a family. Thanks Isaure for the perfect stay!

We visited this 'smallest of the chateau of the Loire' recently and found it quite charming. The young woman who acted as our guide did a tour for us in English and before this we walked round the gardens and looked at an exhibition in one of the outbuildings in the courtyard, which has furniture and everyday objects from ordinary homes of the last century.

The tour was very interesting, although it only took in a few rooms, and the guide had lots of information about the place. It is charming and a complete change of scene from the larger chateau, though well worth a visit, if you can find it. There seem to be signposts if you come from some directions, but not from others.

My wife and I were part of the group from Virginia. The team at Chateau de Troussay were outstanding! We stayed in the castle. Pretty amazing to stay in a room that was 16th Century! In the states it’s old if it’s 150 years old. Besides the grounds, the place, the great breakfast, some wonderful diners with their wine, great weather (thank you), waking early with the rooster to take walks in the country in strawberry fields and vineyards, watching hot air balloons; let’s see and oh yea a great home base to visit wineries throughout the Loire!! Thank you, we hope to return one day.

We passed Chateau de Trussay on the way back to the hotel driving from Chateau de Cheverny to Blois. Nice small chateau (I would rather call it a mansion, not a chateau). OK to stop, if you driving by and have extra time. Lovely grounds and easy parking.

The 'Chateau de Troussay' has it all! Not only is the location ideal for the visit of this lovely region but the place itself is absolutely charming and definitively worth a stay. The architecture is elegant and the inside of the castle is decorated with a lot of taste. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the park beautiful and peaceful. The owner, Isaure, is kind and welcoming and will make you feel at home while treating you like a king!

The main building and grounds are beautiful and there is lots of history. The staff is very friendly and helpful. However, I stayed in one of the cottages which did not appear to have been updated since the 1950s. Of the three bathrooms in the cottage only one had a shower, which stopped draining the first day and overflowed. None of the kitchen appliances worked and there were very few electric outlets.

The other reviews appear to be day visitors--I stayed there for 4 nights. A day visit would be nice.

Dear Madam, Thank you for visting us and for you comment. The cottage has totally burnt in 1990 and has been rebuilt until 1995 and we remade the bathrooms there are 2 years ago, especially the one where the shower overflowed is totally new, it did not exist there 2 years (we are very sorry for the overflowing. Things happen and we managed to repair it 30 minutes after). We used original sinks and papers because vintage is nice and more appropriated for the vintage style and for a castle. Actually, in the 1950, we did not even have bathrooms ;) You know our famous reputation! I suggest you to stay in a hotel maybe, instead of an historical monument from 1450 in the same family since 1900, with a personnal and authentic reception and attentions by the owner. This is very unique. Best regard. Isaure de Sainte Marie

Beautiful Chateau that we seemed to have to ourselves for our two-night stay. Wonderfully looked after by the current owner Isaure, descendant of the original family of the Chateau, who is also very welcoming and pleasant. Isaura would go out of her way to help and make things pleasant for your stay. The staff were also very pleasant and gave us a tour of the Chateau explaining the amazing history that it holds. A great place to stay for a few nights, best to have some form of transportation for meals in the evening as these were taken in the nearby villages, breakfast was served and was plentiful with local village produce brought in. It’s a very quiet and peaceful place and seemed like it was just us there a wonderful place!

If you go to to see the castle of Cheverny, do not miss this little Castle less known but really nice close to it. It is a lived castle by the owner and it has also the possibility to be lodged at the first floor as well as in the "dependance" on the right side. The room are very nice and well preserved with forniture of 1800' period. It is a castle built in 1500' and inside the most interesting part is a door of a chapel that belonged to another castle which was destroyed and it is the only specimen of European renaissance door which was also exhibited in Japan. It deserves a visit. Guides are very nice and clever.

Troussay is one of the rare castle in the region where you can have a large and comfortable room that preserve the ancient style.
When you can stay in a such authentic castle, why you want to go to other hotels?
We have stayed here for 3 nights. Unfortunately, it was too short.
People here are so charming.
We really loved it.
We will comeback soon.

Have you ever lived in a fairyland? To get a full experience, try Château de Troussay. If I had to rate our stay in this château on a scale from 1 to 10, I would give it a 20.

Staying in this enchanted place felt like being transported back in time (of course, with all the amenities of today's world). It was definitely a highlight of our trip to France.

This château has everything - character, architecture, charm, hospitality, very informative tour of the property, given by Isaure, the owner, perfectly decorated rooms with antique furniture, wonderful breakfast, served in the beautiful dining room. There are even 2 well behaved dogs on the property to play with.

The only regret is that we stayed there only one night. It would be lovely to spend more time in this delightful place!

Highly recommended!
