We first went to see the French Flandres part of the Gaspar de Crayer exposition in Cassel the second half of 2018, after which we went to see the twin exposition in his city in Gent, Belgium, which together gave us a very good overview of his works. This time we went to see an exposition - which took up all the space the museum had - commemorating Pieter Breughel the Elder’s passing 450 years ago in 1569, showing lots of paintings and high quality copper prints showing Flemish village weddings, feasts (“kermesse”), later also feasts of the nobles, most done by his sons and his contemporaries. Both expositions were very well done, am truly impressed bu how a to most unknown not too large museum is able to make this possible. Warmly recommended!

Who knew a tiny town in Northern France would hold such art treasures. Do not miss a stop here when you are in or near this charming town.
