Disappointing

Don't believe the hype. Being the biggest in Europe does make a market the best. Not worth the trip. And the town is nothing much.

Food was rubbish.

Best part is the view across to the western shore of the lake.

Save your time and money and stay away.

Excellent attraction!! I have gone to this market on the last three trips to Luino with my cousin and her husband as my personal guides!! A great selection of items for sale including drapes, tablecloths, handbags, clothing, and food. I went to the area of the market the next day and everything had been cleared out so well!! You wouldn't know that the market had been there the day before. I found a couple of nice things to bring home for gifts.

Not worth a ferry fare

Small to medium market by UK benchmark. 5 food stalls with cheese and fruit and veg. Lots of tat. One decent looking shoe stall selling leather shoes loafers or lace ups not high fashion. Clothes and handbag stalls mostly plastic or polyester. 50euro from Baveno for 2.

One of the biggest market I've ever seen
Jul 2019
We were in Luino on Wednesday by chance and it is the marker-day. I like shopping, so at the beginning I enjoyed this big market. We walked from the railway station to the lake. There were lots of goods: bags, clothes, shoes etc. (from Italy and China) some delicious cheese and other food. I bougth 2 blouses (they're nice and not very expensive, traditional Italian style!), so I was happy. But later it was too big, too tiring. We couldn't go forward because of it.

Terrible market with lots of tat. The only good bits are the food stalls, however these are a complete ripoff. Don’t bother going!

Wednesday Market - Dont Miss It
Jul 2019
Heard mixed reviews, we chose to go and were glad we did - got shoes and linen clothes, and fruit. Lots of stalls and did find some unique ones. Prices generally good. Parked up by the COOP with no difficulty. We would recommend and would go again if we were in the area

International market
Apr 2019
Very interesting and varied international market kept every Wednesday ( even on public holidays!). In Summer if you go browsing around the stalls, all you can hear spoken is German; this due to a lot of German speaking people who own property on Lake Maggiore, but also to a lot of people traveling down by bus from Switzerland, Belgium, France, Holland and othe neighboring Countries. A real treat to anyone wanting to find something different.

A simple waste of time and Space

I have to say that usually I don’t like to write evaluations or such. Everyone should make up there own mind, how ever I will gladly make an exception for this market.

First we had to spend almost 40 minutes to try and find a parking space, after we where nicely boiled we. jumped right into the market with a few hundred euro to spend. But there was simply nothing of value, local trades or anything memorable for this trip.

We can not recommend this market at all.
Rather visit Luino on any other day, as the city is actually quite nice.

Not worth it

The mercato has changed a lot and is now mostly selling cheap chinese clothes. The food is overprized ... and we bought some specialities that tasted like their best days were long gone.

Sad.

Lots of stalls but not unique
Jul 2018 • Family
There are lots of stalls at these markets but many offer very similar products, clothing, bags, jewellery, shoes. We arrived via train and the markets begin just outside the station. If you arrive by car you can park at the supermarket Coop (via Ghiringhelli) or Carrefour (via Fornara)

The stalls lead all the way to Lake Maggiore... it's great to escape the crowds and rest by the lake when you need to.

The markets open at 8am and finish around 4-5pm. If you want to avoid the crowds then try to arrive early. There were lots of people by 10.30am and by midday it was very busy.

If Wednesday in Luino doesn't fit with your itinerary you can see the same products at another large market in Intra (across the other side of Lake Maggiore) on Saturdays.
