The medieval castle and winery is situated in the Chianti Classico area on the western slopes of the Elsa valley, looking towards San Gimignano. In 1577 Ludovico Capponi restored the castle and commissioned Bernardino Poccetti, important painter, to fresco the loggia of the court. Production of wine is documented from 1596 on and until today we preserve the tradition and in our vineyards grow exclusively tuscan grape varieties which were used for high quality wines.

We spent a few hours on a private tour of the winery and then a delicious lunch was served with our tasting. It was a day that we will always remember. The quiet and majestic surroundings, the ancient wine cellar and the charming guide made this day perfect in every way. Oh, and the wine and olive oil...amazing!

On our recent trip to Italy we were in the Tuscany area at Barberino Val D'Elsa and took the wine tour offered by Castello della Paneretta much to all of our delight. It is a beautiful small castle with an excellent winery. We toured part of the castle, the wine bottling, and the wine cellars & finished with a tasting... More

Wow. That sums it up. So beautiful. So much history. What a tour! Chiara our guide was great. She took her time with us and was very detailed in explaining the history of the castle and the wine making process. The four of us had a private tasting with cheese and meat and bread. MOLTO BENE! The wine is DELICIOUS!... More

I live in Arizona and there was a small local restaurant/winebar that I frequented (closed 6 last year) One evening the sommelier recommend a bottle of Caniolo from Castello della Peneretta. On many occasion on my visits there I would order more Caniolo. I subsequently searched for the wine at wine shops and on line and i found out that... More

My husband and I booked the tour with tasting and light lunch. Chiara was our hostess; she is fluent in English, very welcoming and talkative. She passed along a lot of useful information on the tour of the wine cellars and the gardens. We then sat down in a beautiful dining room for our lunch with 3 very generous pours... More

Our visit to Castello della Paneretta was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Tuscany. My husband had carefully researched our trip and selected this winery for a visit and tasting. After our drive up the Tuscan hillside we arrived at the Castello about a half hour before our appointment. We were greeted at the gate and told... More

After touring the wine making and storage areas, we enjoyed a formal sit down tasting in a beautiful dining room. We tasted 4 or 5 different wines and most ordered cases to be shipped home. The cost is very reasonable as they keep fres wine stock in the US. The beautiful dining room with full place settings and 3 glasses... More

We visited this place and where impressed by the settings of the castle, garden and landscape. We had no reservation made upfront for a tour, so we got only a small wine tasting of 2 of their wines. Altough we had already ordered some boxes of their wine, tasting of their high-end wines was not an option. A missed opportunity... More

I recently took a tour of the winery and enjoyed a tasting at Castello Paneretta. Their wine is absolutely delicious and very unlike others that I have had in the region. (I bought more than I intended to lol). The history of the castle is fascinating as is the beautiful artwork and architecture of the building itself. I was very... More

Thanks Amanda for having brought a pice of our history and passion with you. Our wines are so different from the other due to the soil and the kind of grapes that we use that are strictly indigenous. We do hope you enjoy our wines Best regards, Alberto More

This winery is amazing! While on a family vacation we scheduled a private tour and tasting of the winery. When we arrived, the gates opened and our tour guide greeted us. We were the only people on the entire estate! We were given a very detailed tour, took many pictures, and were finally taken to a beautiful dining room. The... More
