About
The Ryesvei is an exciting zig-zag path located in the terrain below the Krossobanen Cableway. This outstanding track is open for sledgeriding. The distance from the upper station Gvepseborg down to Krosso is 3851 meters, the difference in altitude approx. 500 meters and it winds down through a total of 21 curves. This makes it the longest sledge-hill (with lift) in Norway.

Nice view - not so much social distance
Aug 2020 • Couples
We took the cable car up and walked down - it was a fairly quick ride up and it afforded some great views. However in these COVID-19 times the cable car didn’t provide much opportunity to social distance on the ride up, which made it a little uncomfortable. We would have preferred to wait a little longer to have fewer people in the car with us, but that didn’t seems to be an option.

Nice route up to the sun
Aug 2019 • Couples
This is a nice way to get from The Valley up to the plateau. While waiting for the cable car you can get the history of the Krossobanen. There is a nice view over The Valley going up and down. It’s a nice shortcut to get to hiking (or biking) at Hardangervidda.

Perfect start to the mountain hike
Aug 2018 • Couples
Perfect starting point for the trip up the mountain, both if you're hiking og going by bicycle. Also OK as an experience in itself, with good views from the top. Fun fact: Originally built as a well-being initiative, the employees of Norsk hydro could get up in the sun

Amazing view
Mar 2018 • Family
This is quite an experience when you think about the reasons why the cable car was out in place almost 100 years ago.
When you reach to the top you have the most amazing view of Rjukan and Gaustatoppen. It is really worthy for the view.
On the top, in the building where the cable car arrives, there are some stairs that take you to the top of the building, make sure you go there.
It is a close blue door right next to the entrance to the cable car when you are coming down.
There is a restaurant in the top if you want to eat or drink something.
You have a chance to buy tickets for one way or return. The return ticket was 130 nok per adult, not cheap.
If you buy a one way, you could choose to return down walking.

Swift ride to the top of Norway
Jan 2017 • Couples
In instants Krossobanen takes you from just outside Rjukan to Hardangervidda. The cable cars are quite old, steep and fast thus providing a slight fright. However, the cable cars are manned with a calm "driver" who also gives answers to questions you might have to the spectacular views towards Rjukan, Gaustatoppen and the sights of the Norwegian heavy water sabotage during World War II. Enjoy the calm of Hardangervidda as you reach the top.

Worth it!!
Nov 2017 • Friends
I was actually not so excited about taking the trip, but I was positively surpriced. We got to see the sun (not only through the mirror), a nice view of the mountains and Rjukan down in the valley. There were also a lot of tracks for hiking or skiing, and a nice café on the top.

Lovely excursion with children: take the cable train up and have a fantastic walk on the mountains with a 360° view.

Nice trip
Sep 2017 • Family
Nice place to visit, good starting point for various hiking trails. With good weather nice views. Unfortunately when we went up it was very cloudy, nevertheless we enjoyed the ride and the "solstien" round walk.

Nices views of Rjukan and surrounding area
Jul 2017 • Couples
We rode this lift up in the evening to eat dinner and enjoy the views. It is a typical cable car ride up the side of the mountain.
