We were driving through Rjukan and had planned to visit the town square to see the small area of sunlight reflected by the mirrors. We were worried it may be hard to find but immediately spotted it whilst driving past, even that first glimpse was amazing. We parked and trudged over the snow to get a better look. A very... More

If you are in Rjukan take the cable car and go to the top where you can walk over to the sun mirror. This is such an innovative concept as a solution to SAD and lack of exposure to sunlight. You can see them also from the town square.

The square had a face-lift last year and is the logical place to start your town-walk. Study the statue, the civic-buildings' architecture, go shopping, have a coffee or walk south to see beautiful "German Town" (Tyskerbyen). The square is right next to them all and is large, nice and inviting.

We visited Rjukan on a sunny day, so we could not feel the importance of this idea fully, but in any case the size of the mirrors is impressive and technology behind as well. We did not try to walk up, but may try when visiting Rjukan next time.

There is a lot of incredible places in Norway and this is one of my favorite. A small town in the big mountains and mirrors on top of it. It is amazing place. Have to see once in your life.

This is an extraordinary installation bringing the sun down to the town of Rjukan, where the sun is absent for about 6 months a year!

Standing downtown Rjukan, not felt sure where are the mirrors. Not easy to discover. No signs, no wizard, was it really here we saw it on tv when opening this exciting tourist attraction. We remembered a square where the mirrors where pointing directly towards. Suddenly, we could see the three mirrors at the top of the mountain, and the square... More

I happened to notice the mirrors while taking a rest. They're kinda small when you look at them from the village, but they're probably big when standing next to them.

If you go to the town square around midday, and the sun is shinning above the valley, the sunlight is reflected onto a semi circle of park benches. Grab a coffee from the cafe and enjoy!
