Nice beach. One of the best in Açores. Water with good temperature but strong currents. Be careful with children. Has a specific area for games and a surf spot with rental and lessons.

Nice relaxed beach. Large car park but never too busy. Lifeguards, so a good safe place for the family, whether sun bathing or getting in for a swim. A surfing beach, so big waves are obviously a possibility, and on our second visit the beach...More

We went here in the late afternoon to walk and hit up the cafe on the boardwalk rather than swim. The views are amazing but the surf is big and violent here - I would be uncomfortable swimming as there looks like there are strong...More

If we are talking about sandy beaches, this is one of the best in S. Miguel. Dark sand, clear waters and a nice surrounding make St. Barbara a much appreciated place.

Many surfers are practicing there. You can have a drink in the bar or going to the beach. Black sand and "warm" sea. We were expecting really cold water but it is not. Be careful with the tide! It was getting higher so one wave...More

This is a huge beach with lots of space for everyone in the sand. The sea is really rough so it very well known by the surfers.

Although we did not go in for a dip a walk along the beach was extremely relaxing, there are only one or two large beaches and a considerable number of smaller bays, I would say the smaller bays are the best for snorkelling and swimming...More
