I was not able to get inside, and there were no hours posted, so not sure when they are open. From the outside the building is amazing, the architecture is beautiful. I would like to come back and see the inside.

Although we couldn’t get in, the church itself is quite beautiful up many steps to give you a good view of the town. The square below, off the towns main square has several cafes.

For me this is a gem of Ribeira Grande. Nice interior, beaitiful architecture and gorgeous view of the city. The church founded on June 4, 1507 - two months before the village was elevated to the village. The works finished in 1517.

We visited here briefly on our tour from the Carnival legend. It is a nice church but the view from the top of the steps at the church is fantastic.

We visited this church on our own while exploring the town. You really do not necessarily need a guided tour. From the main square you turn right and chances are the church will be visible. It is located on a hill with many... More
