Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stay away from this ATV/SNOWMOBILE rental place. We came to Bucharest to visit friends and we went to the Mountains for a night to sightsee on the way back we wanted to rent a ATV and we picked the wrong one. They have no website and no facility at all which was a bit suspicious. But considering I forgot my license back at the hotel we wanted to take whatever was available to us. They offered to take our bags and leave them with the lady that was stationed there in her car. Everything was absolutely fine until the next day we realized they stole our perfumes and aftershaves. Good thing we didn't leave any other valuables such as electronics cos they would probably be gone too...

Best tips:
1) take a train to Braşov, then a Uber taxi to Poiana. Train tickets booked online, and use Uber app.
2) numerous equal resorts/hotels to stay at all walking distance to tram/gondola.
3) Visa/MC taken everywhere, no American Express.
4) there are several small mini-markets, but no supermarkets to buy food
5) Can rent ski/snow board at several options right at the tram/gondola. About 20USD a day for ski package. Cheaper at hotels or a slight walk down from lifts…about 15usd
6) Lift tickets bough at kiosk for the electronic cards that are kept in pocket for the electronic gates. Can buy by day, hours, #of lift runs (points), or multiple days. Once buying the initial ticket/card can recharge online each night. Approx price as of December 22, 2023 was 45USD for a full day ticket. Due to lack of snow both trams and lofts closed, only the gondola and one lift open as of today.
7) very little English is spoken, so be polite and take your time.
8) Runs are all moderate, very little double diamond difficulty runs. Great for kids.
9) the resort and everything is very kid friendly. Many Eastern European guests, and most have kids.

Brasov is most likely the best place in Romania if you want to have good food and good rest together with beautiful views of the old centre or mountains around. Also, there are a lot of places around Brasov for activities like hiking. Great place to spend with family or with friends!

The amazing place for hiking and trekking! There are several hiking trials very good marked. The nature in clean and beautiful - you can see a lot of animals: deers, rabbits, squirrels, hedgehogs and bears; a lot of birds: owls, eagles, partridges. The forest is amazing. Strongly suggest to take Postavaru peak - if hiking will be physically complicated for you - take cabin to go up - there are easy way from the cabin. In Poiana you can find a lot of nice hotels and several good restaurants - Coliba Haiducilor is my favourite one. There are bus from/to center of Brashov - the trip takes 20 minutes.

Lovely area for a vacation. Good restaurants, great view. I was there in Summer, I am sure it is more busy during winter.

The communist legacy is alive and well: resort got sold to some dude w lots of connections, but system lives on. Skiing on a Monday morning, and the all the gondolas get shot down, cuz the ladies working the system wanted to go home early. This was 11 am: lots of tourists protested. They tell us to come back at 1 pm. Guess what? At 1, all the operators had already left. Wanna enjoy a ski resort? Go spend your cash on a place in a capitalist place.

Not to mention, up the mountain: just ONE food and drink hut. On a good day (just weekends, during the week they’re too lazy), you have to stand in lines for some bbq and a beer for 45 minutes. Yeah, let’s not build more cuz’ it’s gonna eat into the sales of this “historical” hut.

It is the biggest ski resort in Romania and the experience was great. We had everything we wished for.

The plateau is very attractive and so are the surroundings but there is everywhere plastic and garbage, despite garbage bins. A lot of uncontrolled cut trees and building instead. Bad food and service (e.g. at Sura Dacilor) - better eat in Brasov.

Really good resort for a long weekend, the slopes were quiet in the week so great if you want to get some ski runs in. Really good value for money. Slopes and lifts easy accessible. Would go again

We have been skiing for 4 days in Poiana Brasov, and we have greatly enjoyed .
All the ski sloops were well kept and the access easy and not very expensive . There are choices for every level of competence and every pocket as well .
To rent a skiing kit is affordable if you don’t have one .
All preaty good the scenery beautiful and nice friendly people.
Now the downside is something I can see it across all places I have been in Romania,
we’re very proud with our Romanian food make sense as every nation is wit their own , but not any foreign tourist appreciate it.Some they want something they can recognise it and fill safe while eating like most of the yang British! And for that the chefs need to be knowledgable and more educated in international cuisine. And the Romanian food even is made without passion and desire to bring it to another level more vibrant and full of flavours. If is made to test and look like does at home what’s the point to pay a fortune at the restaurant!!!
It shows once more that we’re far away from what’s happened in the rest of the world and we’re seating and ask ourself why only Russians visits our resorts the eternal “mioritic “ conundrum ! (Plangem la capul minoritei pana moare ! Nu facem nimic sa o salvam !)
5 stars for the place 2 stars for the service !
