Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great visit to Gosport museum and cafe. Museum is small but gives a good all round historical view of the town and local area. Local artists display art and gifts to purchase or just view and admire. The cafe is fantastic! The ladies that run it are lovely and look after you from the moment you enter. The warmed up cheese scones are great. Prices are what you would expect for a coffee and cake. The museum, art gallery and cafe are all accessible on the ground floor. A lovely experience and this place has become my local go to, especially on a rainy Saturday!

I was searching for the exhibits and art gallery to be disappointed with one room. Where has everything gone? The cafe looked lovely but could have been a gallery space
I had been many times in the seventies and remember it being squashed full
Very disappointed

I visited this museum many years ago when we moved to the area and had a young family. There was plenty to look at, considering its size. However, although a lot of money has been spent, many of the exhibits I remember seem to have vanished. I remember the museum being closed and some items moved to the local library. What was the museum was then filled with computer terminals. The small cannon outside the front door has gone. What was in the library has gone, and there is one room of exhibits in the museum itself, plus a very large dining area. There is a display case containing chamber pots in the toilet area! Before I entered this review, I talked with family and friends on the subject, in case my memory was failing me, but they all seem to remember the same as myself. Bit of a let-down, I'm afraid.

We popped in to this excellent establishment for some hot drinks after a recommendtion from our B&B hosts. We were not disappointed as the friendly staff and tasty cakes made it very worthwhile. The facilities have been recently refurbished (it was formerly part of a Grammar School) to a very high standard.
We will call again when in Gosport.

I visited with a friend during the display of local artwork, Gosport Past and Present. A wonderful exhibit and the artists involved are so talented!

Last week was my 5th visit to this Gallery. These visits always coincide with a random journey from Brighton and no exhibition has been disappointing. The staff are always helpful and informative. The recent MARVELLOUS MECHANICALS exhibition of mechanical machines- closer to mechanical theatre and cabaret, is informative, entertaining and interactive where you can use a pencil to make each of the exhibits work. As with all the exhibitions here, the exhibits are well spaced out.
I should have written this review years ago!
Sadly, there is supposed to work on the Gallery in 2021-2 and it will be closed.
Do go and visit while you can.

My satnav dumped me right at the end of Walpole Road as it did not recognize this destination. I also [as did several of us] walked past the set back entrance to the rear. We had pre-booked a tour of the Gallery. Museum at £5 per head, which included coffee/tea at the start. Interesting, but eccentric mix of post war items, Victorian items and even local natural history in four rooms -nostalgia? Quite good 1980`s themed exhibition prints, films, records and toys etc in the downstairs gallery. Probably the whole place has an educational value to youngsters growing up these days about how things were. Quite good for a bunch of oldies like our group too.

The gallery in the old grammar school hall holds several pop up exhibitions each year and I always find them interesting.
