Interesting and enjoyable - children liked it as well

We took 5 children between the age of 5 and 8 for an hour or so as part of our season ticket to the various naval dockyard attractions. The first thing I want too say is how much... read more

We took 5 children between the age of 5 and 8 for an hour or so as part of our season ticket to the various naval dockyard attractions. The first thing I want too say is how much we enjoyed the ferry boat ride across and back - the crew man had a wonderful spiel of humorous and interesting anecdotes... More

My partner (who is a serving RN Submariner) suggested we make a day trip of this museum combined with the other ones over in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. We don't have kids but I'd strongly suggest that if you do and you want to make a diverse day of it, I'd recommend starting here in Gosport at the Submarine museum (if... More

Plus points - The tour of HMS Alliance was fascinating for adults, and amazing to see the tough conditions the submariners lived in. The other two smaller submarines were also very interesting to see. Good value when part of the dockyards all attraction ticket. Areas for improvement - The 45 minute tour was very technical and hard for adults to... More

WE bought an annual ticket at the Naval museum as we intended to come back , but also wanted to see the submarine museum as well and this is not to be missed , the walk through of HMS alliance was fantastic the cramped conditions that our servicemen had to put up with in the 1940-1980s was jaw dropping

An excellent insight into the world of the Royal Navy's Submarine Service. Loads of things to keep the kids occupied, some of which are interactive.

The whole visit was brilliant. It had easy access to the submarine plus the museum had so much to see You were not rushed around so had time to stand and look at things My only disappointment was not having more time to spend there

Our visit started badly. We arrived after a two hour journey in heavy traffic. Gasping for a hot drink we found the small coffee shop was closed. Asked where we could get a drink and was told a small cafe in Gosport. Not even a vending machine! We were able to buy a bottle of water though. The museum is... More

I would advise that you obtain the full Portsmouth Naval dockyard pass as this museum is included, and you get to take the tender boat over from Portsmouth to Gosport..... Some great views of the Harbour and Marina included. Overall is this is an excellent and informative museum. The highlight of course is climbing aboard HMS Alliance (not for the... More

This museum is situated near the ferry with excellent views across the marina to Portsmouth harbour and the spinnaker tower. Home to the first submarine used in the navy. Modern, well laid out galleries detailing the many vital roles submarines have played in 20th century naval conflict.
