Historic Whitney-on-Wye single track Toll Bridge dates back to 1779. One of just a few remaining in the UK. Two earlier bridges were washed away by the strong river currents and a stone and timber construction was built in 1797.Open 365 days a year with parking and riverside picnic area. Come and fish, canoe, picnic or camp with us. Perfect setting for camping part way through your canoe trip - on the banks of the River Wye at Whitney Toll Bridge HR3 6EW. Very quiet and private small campsite with fire pit, direct canoe launch/land and parking. Two toilets and two hot showers available (clean and fully stocked with soap and loo rolls etc) plus clean drinking water shower tap. Breakfast and BBQs can be arranged - fully licensed so you can enjoy a chilled beer too.

You are welcome to visit anytime - why not come and sit by the river with your picnic or have an ice cream and enjoy the scenery and sun - hopefully!

How lovely to be able to use this quaint bridge and travel across the River Wye like this. I love the board that tells people the cost of crossing the bridge for animals, etc. It is a lovely living history piece of art!

We always cross this bridge given a choice, as its delightful, and a lovely view of the river. My visitor was from the USA and she enjoyed the quaint river crossing.

Worth paying to go over this historic old Toll Bridge if you are on the way to Hay on Wye from Hereford. Saves time and supports a privately run toll bridge.
