Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have just come back from camping at Porthmadog 🤔 Campsite was beautiful and well maintained , and the views were beautiful. Porthmadog itself was awful, nothing there except charity shops, the Harbour was lovely , nothing there for children to do other than crabbing. We took our dog and found it so hard to find anywhere to eat out. The local Spar shop was so expensive £3.99 for a small tin of tuna 🙄 . People were friendly but can honestly say I would not go back again

We stayed in the harbour area and had a good explore -when we weren't out and about.
It's a popular area for visitors and has a free car park.
If you head down the past the boat yards, there is a path that leads up and to the next bay Borth-y -gest, it is steep though, if you follow the bay all the way around there is a pathway that eventually leads to a lovely small cove beach; this pathway also has steep parts, but is a great walk.
Heading the opposite direction, on the other side of the train station there's a lovely walk along the cob and a pathway just before the cob that leads to a manmade?or overflow lake.
There is fish in the cob but we were unsure what they are.

We visited on the way back from Snowden.
We parked for free in the town but only had an hour.
We walked up to the harbour to see all the boats. The tide was out so many were on the sand but it was very picturesque.
We also saw the steam train returning from the peak of Snowden which stops at the station next to the harbour.

This harbour is great for crabbing, (but check tide times) but nothing more. Everything seems to close at 4pm & the choice of shops and eatery’s is very poor.
Supermarkets are good with an Aldi, Lidl & large Tesco all next to each other.
We shopped here everyday which was a shame, as would have liked some nice pub grub.

This is one of the pleasant places which Hubby and me missed visiting during the recent lockdown due to the corona virus pandemic. Yesterday morning (Tuesday), we enjoyed a saunter in the September sunshine around the harbour/marina. There was ample council signage reminding us about social distancing etc. Porthmadog in general is popular with both locals and tourists.

We had a brief visit to Porthmadog at the start of our Welsh Highland Railway Walk. I enjoyed walking around the harbours on a drizzly afternoon. Most boats were tied up and the activity level was low. It was a pleasant and easy walk. So much for mid-summer sun.

I have come here many times over the years, what a difference this place has gone down !
But the reason I am so angry is I am in a wheelchair at the moment and the disabled toilets were locked!
So we called to a local cafe and they didn’t have disabled toilets, plus when I looked around I only found a handful of shops with ramps!
We had to walk the other side of town to the local supermarket to use their toilets!

Porthmadog harbour is a pretty place, you can enjoy a walk around and look at the boats. There is a museum on site which unfortunately was closed due to COVID-19. You can find benches to sit and relax and watch people fishing for crabs.

Visited the area for a morning whilst on holiday. It was a grey, dry, Sunday January day so the harbour was dead, not a single person about. It would be good to come back in the spring, when the weather is better and more activity. We had a peaceful walk and looked at the boats and colourful houses.
There's some cafés just off the harbour but beware if you ever visit in January the open times are seasonal and not much is open.
It's near the Festiniog railway, which during seasonal times would be running and good to see.

We were at the Ffestiniog Railways Harbor Station. Here there are steam trains to Blaenau Ffestiniog, Beddgelert and Caernarfon. From the station you can also see the harbor with mainly pleasure boats. On the other side of the station at Dam Square you can take some nice walks. Otherwise there is not much to see in Porthmadog.
