Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An interesting free museum giving lots of information about the 19th century social reformer who was born here and who’s buried nearby. The museum is logically laid out and gives just the right level of information for his story to be readily understood.

I didn't know about Robert Owen, but it is well worth a visit to the museum as this man was an amazing philanthopist who dedicated his life to improving the lives of his workers. Sounds a bit boring but it really isn't!

Extremely small but fascinating museum in the heart of Newtown. Amazing story behind such an inspirational human being. Definitely worth a visit and staff are very pleasant.

It's free entry.

I recently visited the museum on a trip from Aberyswyth. I had not heard of Robert Owen before and what he was famous for. The museum had a lot of information about his life and work which was very well presented. It was small but very interesting and I enjoyed my visit . Here is an important man in the history of Britain who I expect is not very well known in other parts of the country.
It is good to see that Robert Owen has been featured in a BBC Radio Wales programme. That should hopefully increase the number of visitors in the future.
The young lady at the desk at the entrance was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and pointed out other places of interest to me in the town

I had never heard of Robert Owen and was interested in his life. He seems to have had a lot of failures but never gave up his quest to improve workers' lives.

We had visited New Lanark where Robert Owen practiced what he preached, so to go to Newtown to read about him and where he lived was extremely interesting. To think it is 250 year since his birth and much of what he believed in is still relevant today and still needs to be done!

The museum is free to enter although deserving of a donation, and is interesting and informative. There is very little to look at apart from graphics panels and those are not set out in the most logical way, but it's full of facts and tells the story of a man whose work changed our factory and education system.
You can also visit his grave which is a short walk away, and everything is well sign- posted.

We were in Newtown and I wanted to find out some tourist info and saw the sign on this building, so popped in and found out it was also a museum.

It was very warm inside and as we had our dog with us, which was so nice that they allowed dogs inside, we only had a very quick look around.

I had never heard of Robert Owen before so it was very interesting to learn about such a great man who was a great believer in helping people, a good socialist.

Learnt a lot about him in the short time we were in there and this is well worth a visit.

It's nice that there is no set charge and you can just leave a donation in the box on your way out.

Easy to access right in the centre of town, the museum is a small but interesting example showcasing the often fascinating history of Newtown, birthplace of the father of the cooperative movement, Robert Owen.

Visited the town and looked for the tourist information and discovered this little exhibition as part of it. Compact but well arranged and full of fascinating information about Robert Owen, an important and often overlooked figure in the nation's industrial and social history. Having visited New Lanark the previous year, this was especially interesting.
