Take me back ....... PLEASE!!!
Oct 2019
Vinales gets into your soul!!! It's hard to describe how magical this place is. It's like stepping back in time to a place where families and friends meet on street corners and talk about their day and laugh and smoke. Where cowboys and their horses rule the roads and people dance their cares away at the end of the day. Cuba itself is beautiful but Vinales steals your heart!!

Wonderful place on earth
Aug 2019
My friend and I actually went back here on our trip to Cuba. We wanted more time to explore the fantastic nature in Vinales. Be sure to get on the horseback while you're here, or simply use your legs to get around. We also enjoyed dancing salsa at the Club in the middle of town. Fantastic experience.

Surprising
Mar 2020
If, like me, you really only know Cuba from the pictures of the main tourist hubs such as Havana, Trinidad and Santiago De Cuba, then you will be pleasantly surprised by what the countryside has to offer. It's a bit of a time-warp to see so many horse & carts in use and fields being ploughed by oxen, but you feel that this is the real Cuba.
The Vinales valley is a very interesting area with lots to see - our tour went to the Indian Caves, a Tobacco Farm, Crocodile Park and the Prehistoric Mural.
One of Cuba's hidden gems I think, I'd definitely recommend seeing this part of the country.

Wonderful and quiet. You can do walking tours and horse tours, and discover the tobacco places. Must do in Cuba.

Take the time to head west to Vinales for at least three days
Feb 2020
When we planned our trip to Cuba we knew that Havana, Trinidad and Santa Clara were our main objectives, but reading about Vinales enticed us into making the three hour journey west from Jose Marti airport for a three day stay and we were not disappointed. This rural area has a character all of its own, with a unique landscape, and we were able to visit a tobacco farm, with demonstration, and a coffee plantation similarly. It was a real learning curve for us to see how agricultural life goes on in this part of Cuba – it’s very labour intensive and extremely organic in its approach. Although it was a poor life there was also a real commitment to an unchanging culture of behaviour and we felt privileged to witness it and support it through purchases of coffee and honey. The horse riding was an extra bonus. All visitors to Cuba should ensure that they see this part of the island.

FIRST TRIP TO CUBA
Mar 2020
What a brilliant day - trip out of Havana up to the tobacco plantations - fabulous and so interting. Naturally an hour or two on a plantation - and naturally bought some cigars - as you do! Well worth the day.

Beautiful part of a very beautiful country

The characteristic mogotes draw you in like prehistoric magnets. The farms along the way along the winding road gives a confidence that you’ll get farm to table produce at restaurants. I enjoy a good cigar, so I’m mesmerized by the tobacco farms we pass - excited at the possibility of visiting one and learning about the curing and leaf selection process that ends in hand-rolled perfection. Our accommodations were very comfortable with charming host Maydialis and Magdiel providing everything we needed. Vinales is a typical small Latin American town with a cozy feeling. It has many Casas for rent at very affordable prices. Countless restaurants to meet your culinary needs. The food was more than satisfying and although we realize the dichotomy of availability - visitors get plenty and locals live modest existence at best - it felt good knowing we were helping locals in a local economy. I’m sure much of it goes to government in taxes, but some of it, especially the tips stay in the hands of locals. We had many intriguing conversations with the local people. They speak of their fierce Cuban pride and independence. They talk about a hard life with many, many struggles and challenges to get bare necessities, but they demonstrate an indomitable spirit. Despite the challenges they laugh often and have the brightest and broadest smiles you find anywhere. In Cuba, there is much more than Havana. Venture to Vinales and you’ll definitely want to return. You’ll feel like coming back!

Tobacco plantation
Feb 2020 • Couples
We booked a taxi for 140 CUCS, the trip taking just over 2 hrs each way. First stop (after various failed attempts by the taxi driver to fill up with diesel and stations being out of stock!), was at the cenote where we took a boat ride (5 mins & 5 CUCs) inside the cave. We had no queueing time. Also sold a sugar cane & lemon (verý sweet) traditional drink.
We continued on to the tobacco plantation where we had a basic but interesting 15 mins talk on the tobacco plant & process of cigars etc. With a life demo of cigar making & subsequeng selling of the same. Prices much cheaper than elsewhere!(20 CUCs for 5 cigars) After this we took a 30 mins (each way) horseback tour to a nearby coffee plantation. Again, we had a 5 mins talk on the process of coffee & subsequent selling of the same. Some locally produced Rum & Honey were also on sale.
From thereon we proceeded to lunch (extra cost of 26 CUCs) at a local venta. It was a very substantial lunch - def worth it, but unfortunately do not know name.
Overall an interesting day out.

Vinales was one of our favourite places in all of Cuba.
Feb 2020 • Couples
Me and my partner did a round trip of the whole of Cuba and vinales being our first stop, was nearly impossible to beat. The vibe in the evening was lovely with the road being shut off on the Saturday night and locals playing music and doing what they do. During the day everything is alive and there is lots to do, especially if you like walking and exploring!
