Great landscape, different from what we usually see in Cuba, a bit too touristy but some local guides offer walking tours off track. The village of Vinales is a quiet place to stay despite its tourists, many cases, affordable prices.

My husband and I took a bus tour from Havana. We left at 7:30 from our hotel in downtown Havana and didn't get to Vinales until 1 pm. On the way we stopped at a wayside for a bathroom break and drinks (dirty and busy) and then stopped again in a city on the way to visit a rum factory... More

Although due to its beauty this place is crowded by tourists (I went there on December) it is definitely worth to visit. You will be amazed by the landscape that will surround you while being there and the sights are beyond beautiful.

We took a guided trek in this area, mostly level. Therea was very good for scenery and up close and personal walking through tobacco farms. The farmers organised talks on tabacco growing and cigar making with a tasting of cigars at the end. Very beautiful area to visit for the scenery and the small village full of good retaurants and... While walking around, many Cuban horse riders will try to sell you a tour. I found it to be the cheapest to just negotiate the price with a rider on the streets. They all offer similar programs as the route they follow is quite standard. I paid 15 euro (4h, up and down, tobacco farm, photo spot etc) for a... More

The landscapes are lovely. It is a great contrast to the urbanity of Havana. The farms have a lot of local color, with friendly farmers and cowboys who will tell you all about the agriculture and livestock activities. Beautiful place to take a horse ride. You can also sample cigars at the source. This area seems to have been forgotten... More

Beautiful and unspoilt, this UNESCO world heritage area is a definite must see location. If you have a few days some time spent on a walking/cycling/riding tour is worthwhile as you will get to enjoy the natural environment close to and be able to see flowers, butterflies, birds, as well as getting into the farmed areas where you can see... Viñales is a major tourist destination offering mainly hiking and rock climbing. Many tourists visit the 'Mural de la Prehistoria', but the valley is more beautiful than only that artificial painting. Tobacco and other crops are cultivated on the bottom of the valley, mostly by traditional agriculture techniques. Many caves dot the surrounding hillfaces (ex. Cueva del Indio is interesting).... Via a tour organized by a company we had a great 5 hour horse back riding trip for €20. During this tour we visited a tabaco farm, a coffee farm and a cave. And we got to see the amazing nature. Also bikriding is a fun way of exploring the area.
