Really amazing

It is quite an experience to see a big ship go through the lock. It starts way below you and climbs above you. I felt like a big kid.

After visiting the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre at Lock 3, I headed to Lock 7 Viewing Complex. On my way I caught up with a boat that I had seen about 15 minutes earlier and now it was going through a lock! I stopped and parked my car and took a picture. That was worthwhile! I eventually... The Welland Canal and lock system is a man-made wonder. Very interesting to see and try to make sure and view a ship moving through the system. Well worth a visit.

My friend & I went Lock & to view a ship locking through and to visit the museum. It is well worth the stop. The ship was a huge one and filled the whole lock. The museum is small but filled with interesting photos and stories. We loved it.

Would be a great experience for kids! We happened to be there just as a big ship was coming through in the early evening.

Hi everyone. This is my 2nd favourite location to visit for ship spotting - nice visitor centre, friendly staff. :)

I loved being able to see the ships go by and they were very close to the viewing area. There are some bleachers to sit on but it's better to stand up facing the ships. You can wave at the crew if they are out on deck and notice you. Very interesting.

This is the greatest opportunity to view lakers up close as they travel on the Welland Canal waterways. It's quite an experience to see the manoeuvres as the captains steer the ships into the tight locks. Usually boat crew will be outside and share a greeting. Plan to spend an hour along the canal and tour the viewing complex or... More

I have been here as a child and adult, it is always fascinating. Such large ships, small space, lots of water. Great place to take a moment and show the kids engineering.
