Did a Princess ship tour to Waitomo Caves. A 3 hour bus ride each way but well worth it. Would have been easier from Tauranga but had booked a tour of Hobbiton and couldn’t do both. Caves are magnificent. Don’t miss if you are near.

The tour starts with an early bus out of Auckland heading south. The glow worm caves are very interesting, if you can get the people on your boat to be quiet Seems that the worms actually respond to the vibration of voices. Starts with a...More

Friendly tour guide that wasn't over the top with facts. Quick summary and nice description. The boat trip back was a nice finish.

The Glowworm cave was really neat. Not as large, and open as I thought it was going to be. Ruakuri cave is wheelchair accessible as claimed. Going down was no problem, but going back up was a little challenging. Seemed like an endless ramp that...More

Amazing to see the glow worms, well worth a visit! The visit includes an informative tour of the caves by very knowledgeable guides, most of which are descended from the Maori chief who discovered them. Ends with a oat ride through the glow worm illuminated...More

This group was not listed on TripAdvisor I actually found them through the Waitomo visitor center. I had booked the Glowworm tour but had read about other non cave sites ( Marakopa Falls, Natural Bridge, Ruakuri Reserve) which you cannot visit unless you have a...More
