I wish my local shop was this good! It has pretty much everything you could want, including herbs/spices/nuts etc sold by weight so you only buy what you need. They do refillable shampoo etc as well! The date slices are flipping delicious. If Barra had decent mobile phone signal I’d seriously consider moving there just so I could shop here

Coming to Barra and not visiting this place ought to be a criminal offence. It is a one stop shop for tourist information, bike hire, coffee/cakes, souveniors, eco-seeds/nuts, fresh meat/seafood, serviced laundry, etc... lovely service from 2-3 ladies.

Visited here in June 2019 and was amazed at the range of things such a wee shop offered - tourist information, food, crafts and many others. Staff lovely, and very helpful with suggestions about soothing cream for husband's sore lip.
Some time after our holiday, I ordered several jars of the most delicious marmalade ever, made by Jeanne. Order arrived in good time, well packaged, and as yummy as we had remembered it to be.

An amazing shop, much larger. than it looks from. the outside, stocking almost everything one might need. It is conveniently situated, close to the ferry terminal and the centre of the small village of Castlebay in Barra.

Hi I am sorry that you felt our shop didnt meet your needs. We are the Visitor information for Barra and Vatersay and we certainly would not have said that you could find a chinese down a side street. Many thanks for your feed back and we will strive to get it right for every customer.

This community shop is so lovely. Apart from essentials they offer lots of locally produced goods and items, which are great as treats and for little presents to take home to family and friends. The candles smell divine and I am looking forward to wearing my knitted hat in winter.
The staff are second to none, really friendly and helpful and full of knowledge and great advice. Anyone visiting Barra should not miss this community shop, which is centrally located in Castlebay and has very convenient opening hours. To the staff: thank you, you are doing a wonderful job.

I can understand how much time goes into making or knitting the crafts but everything in the shop was so expensive. Hardly anyone bought anything when we visited . Surely it would be better to make the goods reasonably priced and more folk would buy.

The very best recent development in Barra. A real celebration of local skills and products. For crafts, food, plants and books this is the place to visit.

What a great shop - both showcasing the very best of arts and crafts from the island - and eclectic world foods, and scoop store for ethical supplies.

I’m sure many locals use this store every day - and essential for all tourists.

Brought back some quality reminders from the island
